GENERAL REFLECTION
Overall, how successful was this lesson?
Overall, I think that this lesson was successful. The miniature reminder of methods to solve problems
coupled with group collaboration to apply previously learned information really allowed the students to
teach themselves and ask thoughtful questions of one another.
GOALS/OBJECTIVES
In what ways were your goals/objectives appropriate for your students?
I think that my content goals and objectives were very appropriate in that they align to the TEKS and
support both the content and process standards.
In what ways were they not appropriate?
I dont think the goals and objectives were inappropriate in any way.

ASSESSMENT
How effective were your assessment strategies in measuring student achievement of the learning goals/
objectives for this lesson?
Formative assessment was useful during the group activity to assess student understanding and identify
specific students or ideas needing reinforcement or re-teaching. I also think that the entry and exit ticket
that students turned in allowed me to identify strengths and needs while also encouraging students to
evaluate and assess their own understanding of the content.
Would you make any changes to the assessments strategies you used? What changes would you make and
why?
I would give students a bit more time to complete the exit ticket at the end of class so that I could see their
entire thought process and give them more time to formulate thorough, thoughtful answers.

ALTERATIONS
Did you depart in any way from your plan? If so, how? Why?
No. During the observed class period I did not deviate from my plan in any way.
INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY Respond to these questions for each aspect.

Instructional
Strategies
Student
Grouping

Were the following aspects of your

instructional delivery effective for all
students? Why or why not?

What would you do differently to

improve the lesson?

Yes. Instruction was designed to

reach all different types of
learners including kinesthetic,
auditory, and visual strategies.
Students were randomly grouped
upon entering the room by
drawing a shape out of a bucket
into groups of 3-4.

I would not change the

instructional strategies.
Next time, I might assign groups
to ensure that a variety of
perspectives were represented in
each group, however, I liked that
the completely random grouping
allowed my students to
collaborate with peers they do not
normally interact with.

Student
Activities

Materials, Resources,
and Technology

The activities were very

successful. The warm up and exit
ticket reinforced previous learning
and the group activity allowed
students to collaborate and teach
one another.
The materials, resources, and
technology used for the lesson all
worked well.

I could have specified roles within

each group (such as recorder,
speaker, etc.) to ensure that each
student participates equitably.
I might have a sample poster for
students to model their responses
to guide students to create
orderly, effective presentations.
However, I did like the variety
and creativity in solution posters
so Im not sure if I would change.
