Classroom Procedures
Collecting Homework
As previously stated in the Entering Class section, homework will be
collected by the teacher prior to the student entering the classroom. This
will discourage students that didnt do the homework from copying or
attempting to finish it during bellwork. Plus, it eliminates the possibility of a
student saying they turned it in, but it got lost during the transition from a
basket to the teachers desk.

Student Absences
All students that were absent will have access to the materials and notes that
were handed out during their absence. These materials will be located on the
same table as the materials for the day. Students will be reminded at the door
to pick up the materials from the day(s) they missed. The Previous
Materials section of the table will include the past three days of materials, if
a student missed more time than that, they will see the teacher after class or
if time permits during class. If the student was absent for the entire day, they
will be afforded the opportunity to turn in the work that they missed the day
after receiving the assignment. However, if a student was on campus, but
missed your class, they not be afforded that opportunity unless it was an
emergency situation. This holds the students accountable and gives them
some responsibility. There is enough time for a student that is leaving
because their stomach hurts to ask the office to call the teachers classroom
and request materials and homework.
Late Work
There will be no late work accepted. Students that were absent are afforded
the opportunity to complete missed work, but must follow the guidelines that
were stated in the Student Absences section.
Grading and Recording Student Work
The teacher will grade homework the same day it is turned in. However,
projects and papers will take longer to grade, but the teacher will not take
more than three days to grade any work that was turned in. All work will be
recorded immediately after it is graded. This will make work easier on the
teacher because he wont have to go back after everything is graded and
enter all grades in. The teacher will simply have his grade book open and
enter the students grade in as he/she completes the grading. Moreover, there
will be parents and students that monitor grades closely, so this will eliminate
the amount of emails and questions regarding a students grade on an
assignment or their overall grade.
Communicating with Parents

The teacher will have a website that will be updated weekly that contains
what the class is working on. The website will also contain the teachers
email address, just in case parents/guardians have any questions for the
teacher. If a parent/guardian attempts to contact the teacher, he/she will
respond within twenty-four hours of the email or phone call. The teacher will
reach out to the parents/guardians if a student is continuously misbehaving
in class or if the students are in jeopardy of failing the class. The teacher
wont wait until the last minute to inform parents/guardians if their student
is falling behind in class. Students that are performing at a high level will
also be mentioned to their parents/guardians. Too many times these students
go unnoticed because theyre doing the right thing.
