History 1700: Document Analyzes
April, 19, 2016
From The National Security Strategy of the United States (September 2002) and From
President Barack Obama, Speech on the Middle East (2011)
Both of these documents have the same meaning and propose, they both want the reader
to understand how far the government has changed things throughout the years. People have
fought to have freedom and live a fulfilling life, but before accomplishing all of the rights that
people have now there were different forces that had to come together to win victories. The first
document talks more about how states have to defend themselves from terrorist or be prepared if
any type of destruction occurs, such as in September 11, 2002.
In the National Security Strategy document it says that they want United States to use
that moment for opportunities to extend the benefits of freedom across the globe. They no longer
want armies to prepare for battle just to get something across; they want to accomplish different
rights with peace and destruction because the citizens are the ones who are suffering by losing a
father, a mother, a bother or any close family members. We will actively work to bring the hope
of democracy, development, free markets, and free trade to every corner of the world the
government wants to improve the nation and get the word across on how they will set new
standards that could be accomplished if we all work together and put a little bit of effort. They
want to upgrade their values to give citizens a better life and an on-going future for generations

that come, but one issue that occurs is that also terrorist will benefit from all of the rights every
person will receive. In order to have terrorist attack other nations have to collaborate to prevent
it, Nations that depend on international stability must prevent the spread of weapons of mass
destruction because if we are giving other nations our support they have to help us as well
because we dont want others attacking us when we are trying to help. The United States just
want to improve and offer better opportunities for those who are willing to take them, but they all
need to come together to lend a hand.
In the speech of Barack Obama to the Middle East, he focuses more on the freedom
women are asking for. Yes, times have gone by and things have changed, but there are plenty of
places all over the world that have not advanced from the stage they began from. Women are not
receiving the respect and freedom men have; they are being seen as less and that is something
that is in need of change. Revolution has occurring years back, but advancement has not
occurred and that is something very frustrating for many people to see or even live though. The
United States supports a set of universal rights. And these rights included free speech, the
freedom of peaceful assembly, the freedom of religion, equality for men and women under the
rule of law, and the right to choose your leader all of the rights apply to all women and men, but
its not being respected in some nations. Women are trying to speak out about what they feel
about these issues and their voices are getting louder and louder. All they want to accomplish is
by protesting, marching all together in a peaceful matter because they want the same freedom
men are receiving; better yet, all they want is freedom to express themselves because not even
that they have.
Most of these issues are going on right now such as how women who study the same
career get paid less than a man who is in the same position working the same amount of hours.

These are types of issues that women in the United States are facing and are an unequal. Both of
these documents hold great information that gives the reader a better insider on how rights have
changed and are being changed for the better. There are plenty of people out in the world who
have no clue of what rights are, but since social media is expanding and educating everyone is
now coming together to solve social problems. An example of people coming together to avoid a
mass problem is now voting for this presidential elections, my personal option is that there is
going to be crazy numbers on the board; it is something that haves caused people to come
together and make a stronger voice because they want the best for the United States.
