Revised Purpose Statement

This portfolio consists of a compilation of entries that I have collected during the
academic period of July 2015- to April 2016. It reflects my efforts to improve myself as an
educator by infusing the tools, that I have become aware of during the Diploma in Education,
into my teaching practice. It shows my growth from being an untrained teacher to one who has
consistently shown an increased competency in implementing new concepts and continual
awareness to undertake new teaching strategies in the classroom.
In gathering my portfolio, it has given me the opportunity to revisit some thoughts and
views that I had at the start of the programme. It shows supporting evidence of my personal and
professional identity as well as my critical reflections through the use of journals. My continual
growth and development at integrating other disciplines and life skills are highlighted in the
lesson and unit plans throughout the training. This portfolio also displays my ability to enhance
my teaching through the use of ICT and shows my assessment competency throughout the
training. Although this process was intense it revealed my effort, growth and accomplishments
during the course of the programme.
