Project Nacho!
Undesirable Behavior Targeted
Off-Task Behavior. Students are off-task during the period after lunch. This is when students use headphones,
their head on table, they pock other students, talk to other students, and rock the chair. These behaviors interfere
with learning because students do not pay attention to the lesson, do not listen to the teacher, do not participate;
therefore, students do not obtain the knowledge from the class.
Desirable Behavior Targeted
On-Task Behavior: Contribute to class with related information, answer when teacher talks or asks questions,
sitting up straight, respect personal bubble: keep hands and feet to yourself and let the others participate in class,
active listening: look at teacher and peers when talking, follow the conversation with follow-up comments,
questions, or answers.
Positive Reinforcements
1. Immediate R+. Students will receive a nacho to paste on the bowl on the wall.
2. Ongoing R+. There will be a poster of a big bowl that students will fill up with the chips that they will
receive as immediate reinforcements.
3. Overall R+. Make a Dip!
4. Every time students perform the desirable behaviors they will receive a chip. At the end of the lesson,
students will go to the poster and glue the chip to the bowl. When the bowl is full of chips, the teacher will
prepare the students to perform the activity the next day of class.
Interactive Learning Activity
The teacher will instruct the students to create a recipe for a dip. Then, the teacher will form groups (depending on
the size of the class is the size of the groups) and students will choose one recipe from the options in each group
to prepare the following day. The ingredients will be divided between the teacher and the students, and students
will follow the recipe to make the dip.
TEK 110.15(b)(13)(A) Procedural Texts.
Teach the Desired Behaviors
The desirable behaviors will be modeled and will use role play to show the undesirable and the desirable
behaviors. Using a script, students will perform the undesirable behaviors for them to see what is not working for
my class. Also, they will perform the desirable behaviors in order for them to know what I expect from them.
Teach the Plan
After modeling the behaviors, I will explain the immediate reinforcements, how students can obtain them and
how I will distribute them. Then I will explain the ongoing reinforcement and specify when they are going to have
the opportunity to place their nachos on the bowl. Then I will explain the overall reinforcement, show where the
poster will be placed, and the procedures to follow with it. After that I will reteach the desirable behaviors.
Provide options
For different periods, I will have the posters of the bowl on the back wall. If each class has different behaviors
that need to be addressed I will have all the desire behaviors apply to all the periods because I can address all the
behaviors at once.
