In Andersons article it shows a study done in nursing homes. The study documented the nurses
doing their daily job over 26 weeks. The nurses had their good sides and their bad sides. The side
the nurses choose to view effected the patients in the nursing home. The positive local
interactions among staff members allowed for better service. The study showed that when
staffing connections with each other was poor then the service that was given to the patient was
also poor. In order to have better care the staff has to be a more cohesive whole. The article will
support the research paper to show to improve nursing homes the staff have to be improved.

The book The Elderly in Nursing Home are Vulnerable to Abuse shows that many nursing
homes have failed to give adequate care. Nursing home regulations are in place, but most of
those regulations are not solving the problems that nursing home face. The nursing home have
residents receiving poor care which is from low staff levels. Some nursing homes had cut staff
and other expenses to below legal minimum. They cut the staffing because they would rather to
pocket money. The higher number of staff is directly linked to the problems in the nursing
homes. The book will support the research paper to show that if staffing is increased then nursing
homes will be improved.

the Elderly - An Individual Level Activity Sheet and Nursing Home Resident
Mobilization Strategy." Polish Journal Of Public Health 123.4 (2013): 307-312.

In Goniewiczs article it talks about how the elderly need activities in their lives. The
elderly get depressed when they are sitting and doing nothing. They need to be pushed to do safe
activities. Some people in nursing homes still want to feel independent, therefore the nursing
homes need to adjust the daily activities for that person accordly. All activities of each residents
has to be carefully plan because each situation has to be taken into account. When the elderly get
the proper daily activities their whole lives are improved. The article will support the research
paper because the article shows that to improve the life of the elderly they need daily activities.

homes only give patients 20 minutes with the activity staff. When patients receive stimulating
activities the quality of life is increased. A study was done to understand the influences on
quality of life. Since nursing homes are restricted environment and the patients are frail, quality
of life has a greater impact. In the end of the study it showed that the effect of activity hours play
on the quality of life. The article will support the research paper because it shows the residents
need activities and be social to improve their stay at the nursing home.

Quality." Health Services Research 47.5 (2012): 1791-1813. Academic Search Complete.

Mukamel hypothesized that if nursing homes are more strictly regulated than they would
affect the quality in those nursing homes. The standards that are in place now are set minimum
quality and safety standards, and some nursing homes have found to give poor quality of care.
For two years they took fifteen thousand nursing homes to study. The study found that out of
seven variables measured four were improved when the nursing homes had more regulations.
The quality of regulations improves the quality of care the nursing homes provide. The article
will support the research paper because it shows that when nursing homes are regulated the
quality of care is increased.

Abuse and Provide Higher Standards of Care." Points Of View: Caring For Aging

The article Point: Home Care and Nursing Facilities should be More Stringently
Regulated to Prevent Abuse and Provide Higher Standards of Care demonstrates that nursing
homes and other facilities need to be regulated more. The states with higher levels of regulations

have higher levels of care. The article shows that states do not do background checks from all the
states which caused a convicted felon in another state work in California and she stole money
from the people she was watching. The article shows that facilities need additional regulation to
prevent the mistreatment of the elderly. The article will support the research paper because it
shows that nursing homes need to be more regulated to be improved.
