Because Cannon Mills is no longer present, we have to approach our project in relation to its existence and its absence. We plan to approach this project and cover the many views of every party involved such as: the residents and employees, the government and Cannon himself. We want to cover the full chronological history of Cannon Mills. We would like to configure our presentation around what was there before Cannon Mills and what is there now. We would like to also approach this project from a personal aspect as well, we would like to know what type of person Cannon was, how the workers felt about the closing of the mills and how the government intervened. It is very important for us to dig deep into our topic to find out things about Cannon Mills that weren’t favorable at the time, We want to investigate why the building was imploded instead of being recycled into something else. As a group we plan to research the good, bad and the ugly. Comparatively speaking, we think it would be interesting to compare and contrast the Research Campus with Cannon Mills Our project plan is fairly simple. We plan to openly communicate information, issues and deadlines. It is very important to each one of us to be proactive in completing this project efficiently and promptly. We are going to meet weekly and make note of our progress and set use. goals for the next meeting, We have broken our project up into #2 questions we plan to base our sneer four research around; we divided the questions into’S sets of Lin which we will split evenly. Bach ‘group member will be responsible for finding pictures that support their question and citing the sources they use, Our main forms of research will be the internet along with our interviews, we think these ways will work best along with our busy schedules. However, we do plan to visit the library as a group as an altemative form of a source. Dividing up the project allows each member to participate and provide their own voice. Each member of the group will research their portion and then the group will gather during the weekly meetings to discuss the information, By using the internet as the main source of data gathering, it will be helpful in uncovering the history, the decisions, and the facts about Cannon Mills. The interviews will provide personal insight from residents that were present for the event and the employees that suffered from the unemployment. With our presentation we want to educate the audience about the importance of Cannon Mills during its time and its impact on society once it was shut down. The roles and responsibilities for our team are split evenly and equally. Zaria will handle the history of Cannon Mills, the reason for Mr. Cannon's decision for Kannapolis and how the success of the mills affect the economy. Aaron will take on the aftermath of the mill’s shutdown, ‘comparisons to other successful mills that had to shut down as well and the meaning of outsourcing. Thong will cover how the mills effected the people who associate and worked for the place. He will the also cover the reason for the shut down and how the government played a role to the reconstruction, We plan on meeting every Friday afternoon/evening for an hour or two ‘working on the project together. We plan to have the project completed by at least a week prior to the due date. Ton We are all ecstatic about presenting a project on Cannon Mills. {of our group members have family that were involved with working at the mills, so we hope to get insight from them on what was it like while it was there and after it was imploded. We believe that we are already on a good start because we made plans to split up the proposal and finish it and we all did so in a timely manner. We can consider word choice, delivery of spoken or written text, the organization of writing or speech into phrases, sentences, paragraphs, etc. and the development and coherence of individual words and ideas. Visual Mode: The use of images and other characteristics that the readers see. The visual is meant to attract our attention, We can use this mode to communicate representations of how something looks or how someone is feeling, to instruct, to persuade, and to entertain among other things. Aural Mode: Focuses on sound whether ina speech, a video demonstration sound effects on a website, or audio elements of a radio program, the aural mode provides multiple ways of communicating and understanding a message. Spatial Mode: Is about physical arrangement. It can include how a brochure opens to placement of navigation on a Web page to maximize access for users. ‘This mode helps us to understand why physical spaces such as grocery stores or classrooms are arranged in particular ways to encourage certain kinds of behavior Gestural Mode: Refers to the way movement such as body language can make meaning.
