Aisha Alowais
Name of school:
Australian International School
Mentoring School Teacher:
Renee Michelle Dent
Absence dates / reasons: Not Applicable
General Context: Year level with which the student teacher worked, special characteristics, nature and size
of groups, and a brief description of what the student teacher did (e.g. specific responsibilities, content areas
covered; whole class / groupwork)
Aisha worked in a KG1 classroom setting. There are 23 children; 12 boys and 11 girls. Our philosophy of
teaching is guided by the Australian curriculum and Reggio Emila approaches to learning. Many of the
children are Emirati but we also have children from USA, Armenia, Jordan, and Syria so it is a diverse group
of children. Aisha had some responsibilities to write lesson plans, implement them, and work with the
children to develop their oral language skills. She did this with whole groups as well as small groups.
Observed Strengths:

Aisha came to class each week prepared and ready to work with the children. She
consistently showed a great attitude, openness to learning and observing, and a very
professional attitude towards a career in education. She was focused on the children
and showed very good skills in becoming a teacher.
Areas for Development:

Teaching always requires one to be a lifelong learner and to constantly stay abreast of
new research and methods as to best serve children. I would encourage Aisha to
engage in such professional development sessions and to always reflect on her own
teaching so she can perform to her potential.

General Comments:

I enjoyed working with Aisha and the children really looked forward to seeing her each
Monday. Her lessons were always fun and engaging and kept their interest. I wish her
the very best in her future.
