Differentiate between AC and DC

generator
primary different between between a
The

AC and DC is the commulator.

In a DC generator a split ring commulator
is used so thaht the current is always
coming in the same direction.
An AC is used a slip ring commulator so
that each of the coil is always attached to
the same brush. This mean that the ouput
current changes direction every 180

AC

The electricity grid

needs fine coordination are in phase
with each other

1. Simple construction .
2. More powerful 3 phase
geranetor can be made.
3. AC volatage is more easily
distributed with trasformer .

AC current is
signifficantly more
dangerous than the
equivalent DC current
is the electric shock.
DC

1. A lot of device reply on DC

current on their operation.
2. At a given voltage a DC current
can be more powerful than the
equivalent AC current

More complex
construction with the
split-ring commulator.
Sparking occur in the
gap of the commulator
wasting energy.
DC is more difficult to
distribute effciently.
