LivinginNorthCarolinaformostofmylifeIhavecometoappreciatethemany
wonderfulamenitiesithastooffer.Itisfullofwarmweather,lowcrime,andhighbankingwhich
isprettysatisfactoryinitself.However,Itoffersmanybeautifulstructuresandbuildingsofhistory
thatmakeNorthCarolinaunique.Withtheintroductionofthisproject,Ihavebrainstormedmany
historicalplacesthatpayhomagetothestate.OnethatreallyinterestedmewastheNascar
HallofFamesinceIloveracing.WhatisinterestingiswhyNascarevenstarted.During
prohibition,moonshinersneededcarsfasterthanpolicecarstogetaway.Thisintriguedthemto
beginracingtheir,forthetime,unnaturallyquickcars.IlovecreatingpoweroutofcarsandI
feelthiswouldbeagoodrouteformeandmypartnersinthisproject.

Whendiscussingoveralltopicsforthemultimodalproject,someveryinterestingtopics
arose.SomeofthesetopicsincludedtheNascarHallofFame,Carowinds,andlocalmalls.
However,thetopicIfeelmostcomfortablewithisCarowindssimplybecauseitiswhatIknow
best.IwasinitiallyinterestedwithNascar,butIsawmyselfmoreinlovewiththecarsthanthe
monument.Unfortunately,duetotoomuchofaninterestinCarowinds,Iswitchedtoanew
groupwithafocusonthefamouslighthousesinNorthCarolina.Thisisn'tasintriguingtomebut
IamcomfortablewiththegroupitselfandIbelieveitwillbeanenjoyablelearningexperience.

Ibelieveitisveryimportanttochooseaninterestingtopicforyourmultimodalprojects
formanyreasons.Ibelievethesparkofinterestwillmaketheprojectseemlesslikeworkand
moreofresearch.Anuninterestingtopicissuretoleadanuninterestingworkingexperience.I
believethequalitywouldbegreatlyaffectedbasedontheinterest.Inpersonalexperience,the
researchisveryslowandunprogressiveinatopicthatdidnotinterestme.Theoveralloutcome
wassatisfactory,butgranteditwasaboutracecarsinsteadofsynthetichearts,itwouldhave
beenexcellent.IamhoweverlookingforwardtoworkingwithmyCapeHatterasgrouptolearn

Theproductivityandtheoverallsuccessofagroupprojectlieswiththeworkethicofthe
group.Inmypersonalexperiencetherepeoplethatsimplydonotshowup,makenoeffortto
contribute,andultimatelyresultinanunsatisfactoryorfailinggrade.Ihavebeeningroups
whereIamdoingthemajorityofthework,andtheexactopposite.Ihavebeentheweaklink
beforeandmyfriendsjustcarrymealongtheway.However,Ifeelitisquiteadifferentscenario

EnglishIIIresearchpaperin11thgrade.Mytopicwasonairportsecurityandhowtheyusevery
abrasivemethodssince9/11andhowtheyaresignificantlydamagingtosociety.Atfirstitwas
hardfindinginformationonthisasitseemedasadatedtopic.Fortunately,Ifoundaperfect

gamecubeintheearly2000sanditreallysetmeoff.WehadacomputeralsoandIsoon

Lighthouse,themostintriguingdefinitelyresideswiththemovingofthelighthouse.Throughmy
researchIhavelearnedittookanimmenseamountofengineering,humanstrength,andskillto
movethelighthouse.Thewholeideaofthemovewasbecausemarinersfromalloverhave
dreadedthisspotforyears.TheshantyshoalsofCapeHatteraswerequitetheobstacleto
overcome.Theshorelinewasalsorisingwhichinitiatedthemoveaswell.Irememberduringmy
researchreadingabouttheheadengineerwhoeloquentlydescribedthemovealmoststepby
step.Icanonlyimaginetheamountofhumansandresourcesittooktocompletethe

concerningmylife.IcameintoUNCCwithagirlfriendof3yearsandtheintroductionofcollege
slowlystartedgnawingatourrelationship.WithIrushingafraternityandherfollowingsuitwitha
sorority,ourliveswerefilledwithothermoreexcitingthings.Assadasitwas,westartedseeing
otherpeoplebehindeachothersbacks.Whatsheactuallydidwillnotbespecified,butthe
decisiontoleaveherentirelyortoforgiveherwasoneofthemostdifficultdecisionsIveever
madeandforagoodreason.IchoseUNCCharlotteforherasIhadmanyothergreatnursing
options.Ihadmanyothercollegeacceptances,IncludingAppalachianState,NCState,and
UNCW.IalsohadsomeaspirationsofjoiningtheMarines.AllofthesethingsIobviouslydidnot
dobecauseIwasfocusedonthisbeautifulgirl.Althoughwhatshehaddonewouldringinmy
earandIwouldbetormentedbythethought,Itismorerewardingtomanupandforgivethisgirl
whohadforgivenmesomuch.Shehasalwayslookedtheotherwayandsawthegoodinme,
soIshouldtoher.SomanytimeIhadlookedatherwithtearsinmyeyesbeggingfor
forgiveness,anditwasgranted.Iamsoappreciativetohavefoundsomeonesomature,sowell
collected,intelligent,andbeautifulatsuchanearlyage.Inhighschoolwealwaystoyedwiththe
ideaofmarriagelikeanyyoungcouple,butasthefirstyearofcollegecloses,ouradultlivesare
notsofaraway.Ihavelearnedfromthisexperiencethatforgivenessisessentialinanyandall
relationshipsbecausepeoplearenotperfect.Theonlypeoplethatcanhurtyouarethepeople
youcareaboutsoitisimportanttobeforgivingandtobeunderstandingbecausenoteveryone
isgoingtotreatyouhowyoudeserve.However,Idonotregretthisdecisionasnowitfeelslike
wehaverevitalizedthesituationandhavemadechangestopreventanyfuturefailures.
