Data Analysis Project Checklist

o PART ONE
1. Collect annual salaries to 10 entry level positions in your career field in the metro
Atlanta area
2. Compute the mean and median and explain what it means in the context of your
situation
3. Represent data in graph of your choosing
o PART TWO
1. Find 15 data points representing the national yearly salaries for your chosen
profession over the course of fifteen years and the state yearly salary for the
course of fifteen years helpful site (http://www.bls.gov/oes/tables.htm).
2. Create a table/chart to represent the data
3. Create a Scatterplot for both tables.
Include a title and label for both x and y axis
4. Use regression techniques to find a linear equation of best fit for both sets of data
points and graph your line of best fit
Include a title and a label for both x and y axis
5. Find the linear correlation coefficient r.
Use r to describe relationship between the two variables
6. Use each line of best fit to make predictions about your predicted annual salary
over the course of your career.
Make sure you do at least three future potential annual salaries for both
lines
o PART THREE
1. Write Up/Reflection: (Essay Form for Write Up and Hard Copy of Project. DO
NOT use essay form for class presentation)

you could talk about the process you used to complete the project,
resources you used to collect your data, or any problems that arose
from the collecting process
a detailed explanation of how/why your model could be useful in the real
world

2. Hard Copy: Part One, Two, and Three need to be combined in a Word Document
to turn in for the Capstone Requirements
o PART FOUR
1. Use Part One, Part Two, and Part Three to create a presentation.
Use Weebly, Wiki, Prezi, or Live Binder to organize your information into
a presentation
2. Create a ScreenCast to present your data and project to the class
