The earth is populating quickly, most people know that, and most dont give a second

thought to the foreseeable risks and problems that arise from the issue. Although there are many
results of the rapid population increase, both positive and negative, the major challenges that
arise are the issues of feeding the predicted nine billion men, women, and children of the earth in
thirty-five years. However, there is hope, mainly in an organization designed specifically to
combat the problem at hand, namely, the aptly-named Feeding Nine Billion foundation, which
has developed a four-stage plan with down-to-earth, hands-on ways to avert the inbound crisis.
The first of Feeding Nine Billions four part plan is to incorporate sciences and
technologies into third-world countries to exponentially increase the growth of crops that were
previously only produced for the sustenance of the farmers planting them, effectively creating an
economy where food is abundant, cheap, and readily available to all people. Through the use of
specially engineered plants that are designed to be resistant to drought and prevent famines,
individual growers have the ability to keep their surrounding areas nourished and thriving.
However, science can only go so far, and, as helpful as producing more food is, there is the equal
need to fairly and efficiently distribute the food left on earth right now.
One average American man intakes roughly 3,750 calories each day, which is the highest
average of any countries in todays world. In comparison, the typical male requires about 2,000
calories a day, and it is widely suggested that the absolute most that a man should receive is
2,400 calories. Adding all the available food in the word and dividing it equally between all
seven-billion of us rounds out to over 2,700 calories and 95 grams of protein to each person each
day. Feeding Nine Billions solution to the dilemma is to enforce a way to distribute food from
counties who use and waste more food than they need (or even want) to countries who intake
less than they need, to create a balance in the division of nutrients to areas that need them most.
Even combining sciences of this day and age with the manpower and energy to create equal and
healthy intakes for all, there is still more to be done, which brings us to the third stage, to enable
the support of farms and independent upbringing of crops near large cities and suburban areas.
It is important to sustain a healthy population of farmers to raise and provide meat, fruits,
and vegetables to the people near them, assisted by technologies that can potentially increase
production tenfold, each city would remain reliant on the nearby farms to create the food
required to sustain and nourish the population, and as the said population grows, new farmers

will be brought up to combat the issue of new mouths to feed. Even with all the support and local
solutions to a worldwide threat, there is still even more that can be done.
With governments slipping and losing touch with the people they vow to lead, regulations
and the ability to safely and responsibly produce food is a growing issue, and one that can be met
head-on with creation of new divisions for the sole purpose of watching over the regulations and
policies that are losing their grasp on the industry as a whole. Although some anti-regulation
groups argue that the regulations will only tie farmers down, the positives vastly outweigh the
negatives, as food will be created more honestly, more safely, and more responsibly.
Personally, as Ill be one of the 9 billion struggling through the potential food crisis, Id
choose to work in the first step, science and technology areas where I could apply my skills to
enhance the growth and return on crops grown, which is returned to the communities and,
essentially, to the whole of mankind and the wellbeing of the earth. Honestly, I am rather useless
at working at growing the physical crops, but I have the ability to ensure that the people who are
have an upper hand over nature. In reality, thats what its all about it, right? Nature gives us a
problem, and we either come up with a way to overcome it, or struggle long enough to see
ourselves quickly die to it.
Of course, there are better ways to stall time and crap
