My philosophy of teaching is that it is my job, as the teacher, to ensure the learning of all

students. Every student, especially those with special needs, has the potential to learn, and
deserves to be provided with high-quality instruction. As a special educator, it is imperative to
recognize each students individuality, interests, strengths, and areas of need in order to
implement appropriate strategies that will allow learning to occur. Education is not a one-sizefits-all approach, so it must be adaptable, flexible, differentiated, and culturally responsive. By
providing differentiated instruction, students are able to receive individualized supports that will
allow them to reach their full potential. Students should be invested in their learning while
feeling valued, accepted, and safe within the classroom environment. Additionally, I believe that
it is vital for educators to be reflective and collaborative; we cannot provide productive,
meaningful education without the support of all involved.
