Reflection about comparing numbers:

On Sunday, March 6, 2016, I taught grade two and the lesson was about comparing numbers,
this was my second lesson, so I was a little bit nervous. At the beginning of the class, I told
them a story about comparing numbers by using the PPT. The I put the symbols (greater than
>, less than <, equal to =) on the board. I put examples on the board, and I asked students to
put the symbol. After that, I gave each group symbols and "UNO" cards. I asked students to
create two (three digit numbers) by using "UNO" cards. Then I asked them to put the correct
symbols. Then I asked each group to present their work. I gave each pairs card contains two
number and symbols, and the students must put the clips on correct symbols. At the end of
the class, I asked students to open students book page 39 and do it individually. I walk
around and check students work.
I think the time management went well because I finished the lesson at the time. In the
engagement, I told them a story, and it took 15 minutes. In the core, I gave each group
symbols and "UNO" cards. I asked students to create two (three digit numbers) by using
"UNO" cards. Then I asked them to put the correct symbols, and it took 15 minutes. In the
close, I gave each pairs card contains two number and symbols, and the students must put the
clips on correct symbols. Moreover, I asked students to solve students book page 39, and it
took 15 minutes.
My classroom management was good, and I controlled the students. I let students work in
groups, pairs and individual Furthermore; I used eye contact with all pupils. Moreover, on
the board I wrote the name of the groups, I gave 5 points for speed, 10 points for answer
correctly, and 10 points for quiet and organization. I used group reinforcement, I gave the
group who got more points two stars and the other group one star. The materials that I used
were PPT contains a story, UNO cards, clips and cards contain numbers and symbols. The
strategy that works well was positive reinforcement approach. In next lesson, I will try to use
count down strategy (three, two, one, start) because some students start doing the activity
before I told them strat.
I noticed that the students understanded the lesson well becuse when I gave each pair a clip,
the card contains numbers and symbols the students put the clips on a correct symbol. They
also respond to the students book correctly. Therefore, after this lesson the students can
compare numbers.

I am totally satisfied with the feedback that my MST gave it for me. I agreed with my MST
when she said, you should make the cards bigger so the students can see it. So next time I
will try to make everything bigger and suitable for students. Moreover, I really felt happy
when my MST said positives things about my lesson and my activities, for example, she said
you use different strategies and your objectives are clear. I agree with her when she
wrote increasr the activities. Therfore, next lessons, I will try to create many activities that
suitable with students needs.
