Bill Analysis
The Bill that I chose was Michigan House Bill 4927 (2015). The branch of government
that I am working with while completing an analysis on this Bill is at the state level. This Bill
associates with elections, registration, traffic control and many more and it is also, referred to the
Committee on Elections. While doing some research, I found out that the bill isnt scheduled for
any upcoming hearings or votes because there were no roll call record information currently on
file. This intent of this Bill is to provide automatic voter registration when receiving a drivers
license or identification card and I think that would be a great idea. I think that the core
provisions of the Bill is to give more people the right to vote. Having the right to vote is a
privilege and some people abuse it and then again some people dont vote at all so, this Bill gives
them the opportunity to vote and help make a difference in the world.
During the course of my research, I found out that this Bill was funded through the state
treasurer. This was new to me because I didnt know that the state treasurer can fund bills.
Although many people oppose this Bill, I support it because it gives more people the opportunity
to become a registered voter, more people can vote, and more people can have a say so in the
election because the number of voters can increase. I know for a fact that if I was given the
opportunity to become a registered voter if all I had was a drivers license or an i.d. then, I was
be the first person to go out and vote. I also, found out that there wasnt any group or legislators
that opposed my position because the Bill was immediate, so it only was read one time. I

personally, dont think that this Bill has the support of the leadership of legislation because
Derrick Miller, which was the primary representative, resigned. The representatives that were on
this Bill were Derek Miller, Robert Wittenberg, Julie Plawecki, John Chirkun, George Darany,
Pam Faris, Jon Hoadley, Frank Liberati, Marilyn Lane, Scott Dianda, Winnie Brinks,
Phil Phelps, David Rutledge, LaTanya Garrett, Stephanie Chang, Andy Schor, Charles Brunner,
Charles Smiley, Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, Wendell Byrd, Bill LaVoy, Tom Cochran,
Christine Greig, Henry Yanez, Sarah Roberts, Erika Geiss, Fred Durhal III, Adam Zemke, Rose
Mary Robinson, Kristy Pagan, Jeremy Moss, John Kivela, and. Robert Kosowski and most of
them sit on the Elections Committee. Lastly, my representatives share my position on the issue
because they sponsored the Bill and they approved of it.
