INFORMAL REPORT

A Report is:

an essential form of corporate communication that helps managers and co-workers stay

informed, review, plan for the future, and make decisions


written with clear objectives in mind and is designed for specific audience
clear, easy to read, and concise

An Informal Report is:

most common kind of report

typically written as memo divided into subsections

2-3 pages long

relatively casual in style; personal tone is acceptable

usually internal in purpose

Recommendation Report

an informal report that presents information and analysis intended to solve a problem

sometimes called an internal proposal

these reports are usually written in response to requests by superiors

they are persuasive documents that make suggestions on a new or improved facility,
equipment, procedure, policy, etc.

writers are expected to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations

the report must first establish that there is a problem.

then prove with credible information how the recommendation is a good solution
