Personal Technology Project

For my personal technology project, I created a glog that I would use to help
present the material and information regarding the three states of matter.
This glog would have a double purpose as a printout sheet students would
keep in their folders as a quick note sheet containing the basic and essential
facts about the three states of matter.
1 What is the purpose of your product? Will it be used to present content
to students, or will it be used to demonstrate your expectations for the
students finished product to demonstrate their learning?
a The purpose of my product is to present content material in a
new and creative way. This would be presented after the initial
lesson as a recap and summation of the lesson. My product will
be used to present content to students. It will be printed out and
kept in their folders so they have easy access to a clear and
concise note sheet.
2 What content/lesson are you addressing with your project? What grade
level is this project designed for? Why did you choose this particular
technology application to use in your teaching/student learning?
a I am addressing the three states of matter in my project. The
project is designed for grade level three. I chose to use the glog
to present the information about the three states of matter. I
thought the glog would be a great tool to use because it
organizes the information in a very clear and thoughtful manner.
The glog will be used as a recap or summation of the lesson. It
will highlight the key components and ideas that are important to
take away from the lesson. This is why I used the glog because it
held just the right amount of information and can also be printed
out so that students can keep it as a resource and note sheet for
future studying and assessments.
3 How do you believe your product/project can be used to address the
UDL learning networks? (be specific about which network(s) your
project targets)
a My lesson addresses visual and audial learners. The content is
clearly spelled out but I also included pictures of what the
molecules look like in each phase as well as a diagram that
demonstrates the cycle of how the states interact. I discussed
this cycle in the glog itself but the diagram helps make the
process clear and show how it is a continuous loop. I also

incorporated audial because I found a song that helped

summarize the key points of the lesson and I thought it would be
fun to end the lesson on a fun energetic note. The song is also
easy to memorize which could help students remember
definitions and characteristics, this will be useful during
assessments and will make studying easier. The glog will be
printed out so that it can be kept in the students folders. While
the glog does not directly address the kinesthetic learner, it can
be discussed while doing the different hand motions that we
identified earlier in the lesson. So while we are highlighting the
main points of solids or speaking about solids in the cycle our
hands would be interlocked making a fist. As we talk about
liquids and gases and how heat causes those changes our fingers
would model how the states change and how the molecules act
in each stage. By doing the hand motions and highlighting the
main points of each phase it can help kinesthetic learners retain
the information.
4 If your project/product is to be used as a demonstration for a
student project, provide an explanation of how will you grade/assess
the students finished projects (you may want to create a rubric
example to include with your explanation you can make this a
separate file). This is an important element because you will want
students to know what the expectations are and how they will be
evaluated.
a Project/product does not serve as a demonstration for a students
finished project. It is being used as a way to present content.
