Set Induction:
Today I am going to introduce the sport
of Badminton. Has anyone ever played
badminton? This one of many racquet
sports that is formally known in the
United States. Today we are going to
begin with introducing the serve and the
COTS of the serve.
Purpose:
The badminton serves as the start of
play in a game. It is extremely important
because serving is how you get the
chance to score points and win.

Transition
Students will be instructed to make a
line at the equipment bag and get a total
of 8 birdies and 2 rackets per group.
Each group will be told to find a hulahoop on the ground and take a seat in
the hula-hoop.
Lesson Core - Task 1:
Students will be trying to serve their
birdies using the correct cots into the
hula-hoop. One partner will be on one
end of the hula-hoop and one student
will be on the other. Students will take
turns and then pick u their 4 birdies
after they are done. 5 rounds will be
done which makes a total of 20 reps
each.
Demonstration Plan:
The teacher will demonstrate the COTS

serve?
Why is following through
important when serving?
Adaptations
Students who are having problems can
move closer to their target and students
who need it to be made harder can move
further away. Also if kids are having
trouble hitting the birdie we could use
small balls instead to allow them to get
use to hitting the object.
