Proposal:
Immigration, deportation and families
A better life, is what every immigrant thinks when it comes to moving into
another country, for their selfs and their children, knowing that there can be some
struggles through the process, but at the end it will be worth it. But if we go deeper
into the real situation, we find the fact that when it comes the time when one of the
parents in the family gets deported, it can be literally a nightmare for the entire
family, and even more when the dad is the one who gets deported, because as we
all know he is the main source of income in the family. But what happens when
both of them get deported? The dad and the mom? Then an even more serious
problem comes in place; a problem which needs attention, needs answers, needs
solutions, solutions which should be done as soon as possible which could be very
helpful. Problems such as situations where the kids may not get the love, time and
education by their parents, making them differentiate themselves from the other
kids who have a complete family with them, then this becomes an even worse
situation. Deportations cause economic hardship, emotional distress, and family
separation.

Building a wall as one of the Republican candidates running for president

states is not the solution; instead, it is the invitation for more issues to come for
immigrant families, because many people want to emigrate into this country for a
better life, but by saying and doing all these racist decisions, more things to worry
about come to parents minds and make them think more ahead of the possible
consequences of crossing illegally into this country. Instead, candidates running for
president may offer ideas which can help them earn more votes and respect from
all these immigrant families, such as helping them get their legalization done, or
welcome their families who were left back to their native countries into the United
States, probably with some restrictions, but at least let them be here with the dad
on the family to make the whole family live together, because as the current
president of the United States, Barack Obama once said The United States of
America will always be a country of immigrants form many other countries and

cities around the world, which will keep receiving more and more people, not
even by building a wall.
Looking at the circumstances and the situation at where we are right now, I
think that we should all reunite together and build up major solutions which could
help in a better way all the immigrants who are willing to come into this country
and even more the ones who are already in here. A recent study shares the fact that
over 10 million people per year migrate illegally to the united states (Kerstens), but
what about the people who leave the united states because of the same reason? For
being illegal? Still a big number dont you think?
Erick Kerstens from Metrowestdaily news, said that instead of attempting to
continuously improve the countrys ability to keep people out, we should be
focusing on improving the process of legal migration, and I find it very true,
because by trying to keep people outside, you are sharing hate, and bad behavior,
which will impact on these people and there will be no solution or end to it, but
instead, we could do many things which could make a difference on it. For
example, trying to make the process feasible when it comes to make this people
migrate in a legally way. Feasible by offering an easier process when applying for
a Work VISA, or a Student VISA, which can help them in a better way to succeed
in their future, and if we take a look at this, we can notice that it may also have a

good impact on the government because both permits will make a contribution to
the nations economy.

Joanna Dreby wrote a report stating that only a comprehensive

immigration reform with a pathway to earned legalization for unauthorized
immigrants can grant security to parents and children in mixed-status families,
true, this can be a very helpful solution, because if we view the statistics and the
real situation, we can identify that there is an even worse problem, which is the
expensive cost of foster care for each U.S. citizen child which is left alone because
of its parents being deported, with the nearly cost of $26,000 per year on a national
average calculation. So therefore, whats the best option? Deport the parents and
leave the children who would be a huge expense for the U.S. government, or leave
their parents who will actually take better care of them and cover those expenses
for themselves instead of the government? I think that the answer is pretty obvious,

and even more, by knowing that also those parents, even without their
documentation, can make a difference on the labor area, by working in jobs which
help grow the economy in any way. But even if that wasnt the case, of letting the
parents stay, it can also be a good option to leave the children in here because they
may have more opportunities and resources at their disposition in order to become
people who get a college degree, go work in a professional job and therefore make
their parents proud of them, by at least knowing that they at least tried to make
their children be born in this country and have a better life.
Walter Edwing beliefs that there could be smaller-scale legislative
fixes that would ameliorate the situation, such as President Obama executing an
action such as allowing parents, especially those supporting U.S. citizen children,
to stay in the country if they have committed no crimes and are only guilty of the
civil offense of being in the country without status, and therefore, this could be a
huge improvement in the current situation of the deportation, because it can reduce
it in a huge way and improve families relationships and fears of being separated in
any moment.

Anything could happen, you never now, but what if there are other solutions
to the issue? What if these ones dont work? Well, there are other last resources,
such as a Safety Planning as Vanessa Cecea calls, which consists of a program
where community groups and attorneys produce, along with organizations and
unions, material meant to inform those who are at risk of being deported, and
letting them know the consequences that may happen if it occurs, as well as
making them ask their self questions such as: What will happen to my children?,
Who will have legal guardianship of them?, etc. And therefore, this brings us to
another solution which is the use of a Power of Attorney which is a legal document
that allows an individual to grant power to someone else. This solution may not
be able to avoid the deportation, but it can be a protection for the family in a future
in order to protect their interests.
This issue is a huge one among many others that this country faces,
and coming up with the right solutions and ideas is the best way to face it, by

focusing on the acts and consequences that each one of them haves and why not?
Trying to apply all of them can make an even better panorama to the issue, but
trying do it keeping in mind all of the people who may not apply for one of the
solutions, in order to come up with proposals which can make everyone eligible for
the help.
