1) Does the meaning of the Constitution evolve over time to fit the current social and political

climate, or can it be found by determining what it meant when it was adopted These conflicting
views are commonly referred to as a living Constitution versus originalism.
2) Should the meaning of the United States Constitution be determined by what the original framers
intended at the time of its creation, or is it a living document, in which the meaning changes as
political and social situations change.
3) In the midst of the much heated debate over gun control, many people refer to the 2 nd Amendment
as either the law that secures gun rights, or the outdated, aged legislation that does not mold into
our current society. Therefore, Should the meaning of the United States Constitution be
determined by what the original framers intended at the time of its creation, or is it a living
document, in which the meaning changes as political and social situations change.
4) This quote relates to my question because the gun rights vs. gun control debate centers primarily
around the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution. The right to bear arms is given to, The
People in the 2nd Amendment, but after over 200 years, does the interpretation of this law change
as the environment around, The People changes.
5) Yes, this certainly raises other questions, including my original inquiry question, Does the right
to bear arms take priority over the potential to do terror?
