Standard 3

Professional Practice
Plan for and implement
effective teaching and
learning
Throughout all three of my primary professional
experience practicums I have been given the opportunity
to plan, structure and sequence learning programs (3.2).
With having fantastic mentor teachers that offer formal
formative assessment on at least one lesson a day I was
able to evaluate and improve my teaching programs (3.6)
which, hence, saw growth and improvement in my
students learning. Engaging in curriculum and pedagogy
units offered in my degree I have been able to build an
extensive teaching strategies and resources kit. (3.3, 3.4)
which assists me in creating effective learning experiences
for my students.

teaching and/ or student learning

For this lesson I had two goals; the first

being simple and sequenced learning
experiences and the second time
management for a smooth and
effective lesson.
As for my first goal, I noticed the light
bulb moments in the students
learning, they were using their prior
knowledge which we had developed in
the previous lesson to assist and
connect with this activity.
For my second goal, the
implementation of a digital timer to
keep my lesson sections succinct and
on track really assisted me with
keeping most students at the same
pace as I had been struggling with
differentiating, extending and catering

As I planned this lesson upon

reflection of the learning
outcomes of the previous
lesson I addressed standard

and simplified sequencing
made my teaching much
more effective.
As I had a goal to effectively
pace my lesson sections to
assist with full student
engagement/participation I
addressed standard 3.6.
