Research Proposal
For my inquiry project, I chose to explore the topic, what are the contributing factors to
Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa? I selected this topic because in the past I have shown
tendencies of an eating disorder and I also have noticed it is very prominent among teen girls,
which intrigued me to learn more about this topic.
Before beginning research on this topic, I already had some prior knowledge, but knew I
wanted to discover much more about how this condition develops. There are many different
ways people may view a person who is suffering from anorexia or bulimia. I think that most
people do not fully realize all the contributing factors that lead to an eating disorder, but think
that these people are just trying to be skinny. But, in reality, there are numerous factors that can
play a role in the diagnosis of one of these eating disorders.
Since I have noticed many girls around my age suffering from eating disorders, I believe
it is important for me to become more aware of what eating disorders are and how they develop.
Also, I think that eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia is such a serious condition, which
requires intense treatment, and everyone should be more informed on this topic.
