W H AT I S S P E C I A L E D U C AT I O N ?
Special Education Programs are designed for those
students who are mentally, physically, socially and/or
emotionally delayed.
Due to these special requirements, students needs cannot
be met within the traditional classroom environment.
These services are of no cost to
the family and are available to
children until they reach 21 years of age.

Gifted and talented learners are children who are:
exhibits high performance capability in an
intellectual, creative or artistic area,
possesses an unusual capacity for leadership, and
excels in a specific academic field.
They are also included exceptional learners.

BENEFITS OF IEP
The following are some benefits of IEP:
Understanding the childs present levels of academic achievement

and functional performance, and


Academic and functional goal will support teachers to focus the

childs level of area.


Since students information is in IEP, even changes of homeschool

teacher would not affect and hinder students learning process.


The IEP is essential requirement in related-to-transition for

students at age 16 to assist them in reaching their goal.

CLOSING REMARKS
Special education is designed for children who is in special
needs, such as learning disabilities, various health issues etc.
To be able to eligible in special services, children need to
go through several steps of identification such as RIT, IEP,
and tiered-multiple instruction.
If students is eligible for special service through IEP, he/she
will receive services under IDEA which is designed to
protect students with disabilities.

REFLECTION
As a parent of exceptional learners, it is sure that they would like to receive any help they could get
from school or others. In order to do that, parent needs to know what kind of help they could get from
the government. They need to understand, how much help they could get and what kind of services
are under special education. Therefore, I would like to give some information about special education
and related law to protect children wit special needs through this power point presentation.
It is true that it will be hard to make a decision for children with disabilities as a parent. It will be
hard to choose the right things for their children. However, it will be so much easier if parent
understand services under special education, such as IEP, RIT and so on. and how they work.
I hope that my power point presentation will give parents valuable information about special
education and help them to make a good decision for their children.
