GENERAL REFLECTION
Overall, how successful was this lesson?
Overall, I believe the lesson was a success. My students enjoyed learning about the womens suffrage
movement and I received good results from the letters they wrote as an assessment.
GOALS/OBJECTIVES
In what ways were your goals/objectives appropriate for your students?
The goal of the lesson was for students to understand the purpose of cow towns and cattle trails, an
objective that comes straight from the TEKs. I believe the students understood the lesson and the content
involved.
In what ways were they not appropriate?
In my 4th period, I always struggle with providing resources that my beginner ELLs can understand. They
work very hard to understand the language, but even during teacher led assignments, sometimes having
them copy the information down and practice writing is the best we can do at their stage.

ASSESSMENT
How effective were your assessment strategies in measuring student achievement of the learning goals/

objectives for this lesson?

The vocabulary fill in the blank DOL is one of my favorites because it allows the students to copy a
paragraph of information they will need in the future and they will fill it in with the information they
learned so it is not given to them.
Would you make any changes to the assessments strategies you used? What changes would you make and
why?
I can modify this DOL to make it harder or easier for the students by adding more blanks or taking some
away and providing clues.

ALTERATIONS
Did you depart in any way from your plan? If so, how? Why?
I kept the lesson the same, but I asked many redundant questions to ensure that my lower level students
and ELLs were understanding the concepts. Many of my higher level students who were testing that day
have no problems sharing their answers, but I had to scaffold the learning of my mid-level students and
have them share more than usual. Fortunately, my ELLs felt comfortable enough in the environment to
contribute too.
