Diabetes Prevalence in Hispanics.
There are two kind of diabetes: type one and type 2. Type one occurs in ones early
years. This type of diabetes describes the situation in which ones body stops making insulin.
Insulin is the hormone that stimulates the cells in ones body to use glucose in order to have
energy. Type 2 diabetes happens when ones body produces high levels of insulin at one point in
their life and is later unable to produce the same amount. Therefore, the pancreas is unable to
produce enough insulin to keep glucose in blood levels balanced and that leads t glucose being
able to roam around the persons body freely. Type 2 Diabetes in the present day has been
increasing highly, mostly within the Hispanic population. 1 in 2 Hispanic men and women are
expected to develop type two diabetes through their life (Virginia, 2014). The reasons I most
suspect for this are: the availability of products that contain a high amount of carbohydrates, not
knowing of their risk of diabetes due to unavailability of health insurance and the lack of
knowledge towards such state.
Hispanics have a bigger probability of developing type two diabetes if they live for a
longer time in the United States. What I think may be the different in the life of these people is
that as Hispanics, we are not really used to process foods as many other ethnicities. It has been
proven that processed foods such as skim milk take out the fat but put in carbohydrates and
chemicals in order to make up for the fat taken out. Recent data may have the national
government change several changes to the products they advise the everyday consumer to take.

The availability of such products and their cost may be what leads many Hispanics to consume
such products. The change from a developing country to a first world country may be one of the
few things that may affect Hispanic probability of having type two diabetes. Another thing that
may make most people purchase such products is that they are most often likely shown as good
because fat has horrible stereotypes. Most of the time we see fat as the wobbly skin that hangs
from our bellies; Nevertheless, research has shown that fat does not affect people with diabetes,
in a sense, eating more fat may be what may help them control their state. When fat does not
contain a numerous amount of carbohydrates it can satisfy ones hunger and help one stay away
from the carbohydrates. Other things that may affect people is that the United States sometimes
claims to have all natural material when it may not be as natural as they claim. Whole grains are
most often not that whole. Things we may be able to blame for this range from national
guidelines and the companies that lead customers to make bad choices due to their publicity.
Health insurance availability is low for most Hispanics. The reason behind Hispanics not
having health insurance ranges from technical problems faced by those who apply to possible
unavailability due to not thinking one may afford it. Diabetes may come to people as pre diabetes
first and one may avoid getting diabetes by just starting to do a little of exercise and changing
ones diet. Diabetes can be prevented but the problem is that most Hispanics are not aware of
their condition. Most Hispanics do not know how to fully apply for health insurance and for that
reason Hispanics have one of the highest rates of uninsured citizens. The good news about health
insurance and where it reflects the most is that those who catch diabetes when they reach the age
of 65 are more likely to have it under control. Not seeing a problem when it may be present can
be as effective as a child not seeing that their mother may be a bad parent by hiding in their
rooms while she is taking a dose of drugs. Not knowing that one may have diabetes does not

make one able to say that they do not have it. The lack of education of ones present state most
often comes from the lack of insurance. The lack of insurance is often product of lack of
education from Hispanics. Hispanics are also one of the most wide ethnic groups that lack health
insurance for children in comparison to African Americans and those of Asian descent. The most
derived reason for this may not in all cases be that they may not know how to fill the application
but rather that they do not know the availability of insurance. Health insurance does not always
come in a high cost and most people should know that in order to ensure that they have the best
care possible. Another thing that may derive from little education is that most Hispanics do not
make a great amount of money and most of their jobs do not offer insurance. Such statistic may
not cover a big part of the problem, but it most likely contributes to the problem.
The lack of education affects Hispanics when it comes to numbers in insurance. For
some reason, a Hispanic is more likely to have diabetes when they have a low education. Lack of
education may cover issues such as: not being educated enough to fill out the insurance
application and the lack of knowledge of its
availability. Not in the way that Hispanics may
have issues with the language, or the
technology used to apply but rather the process
itself. In the study done for the picture shown
most Hispanics that made part of it said that
English was spoken at their homes. Hispanics
were most likely to not shop for insurance than
the general population. After shopping, they
were more likely to not enroll in the end. The

lack of insurance is often product of lack of education from Hispanics. Not in the way that
Hispanics may have issues with the language, or the technology used to apply but rather the
process itself. The most probable reason for this problem may be that translations of the
applications in Spanish are most often bad. Some states even rely in Google in order to translate
the applications. Insurance should not be the sort of thing to withhold from those who may have
diabetes. If one never knows of their state it might lead them to keep doing the habits that got
them to catch diabetes. Such behavior could lead to complex sugars to be allowed roaming freely
in ones body and that could lead to heart disease or bad circulation. Heart disease may lead to
stroke and bad circulation may lead to amputation of limbs. Both cases demand an incredible
amount of money for a situation that can easily be prevented. If insurance could save our nation
$174 billion in health care (Tucker, 2014) we should find ways to make insurance not only
mandatory by law but rather available to everyone.
The cost of diabetes is certainly costly when not treated. The community ought to make
insurance available and make it more known to everyone. Even when it is a general problem, in
our community we must see that there is a deeper problem with Hispanics. The need for Health
insurance must be known and available to everyone. Diabetes can be lived with and controlled,
such disease should not affect the public as much. Our community ought to work in order to
improve the overall health
