This paper is going to discuss about the classroom schedule, and behavior management
system that I have created. I am also going to justify the different management styles, routines,
schedules, and transitions that these systems help support.
Moving children from a class to another and expecting them to perform different types of
activities is one of the most challenging things that a teacher may face. In my opinion, I think
that transitions, routines, and procedures are important and every teacher should be aware of
these because they allow the students to be more flexible and to learn more about discipline and
coordination when they follow the specific rules and instructions. In addition, managing
transitions is important because it makes the lesson run smoothly and it saves time.

(This schedule
was created by
me)

I have created a classroom schedule in order for the students to be aware of what they are
going to do or learn throughout the day. The schedule belongs to Kg2 students. I have added
some pictures in it in order to make it creative, attractive, and eye catching. In this schedule, I
added 5 different subjects that children of this age should be taught: Arabic, English,
Mathematics, Science, and PE. I thought of creating an attractive and easy schedule to follow
because it will allow the students to get involved by exciting them to learn. In addition, when
they see that the schedule has different bright colors and pictures in it (which represent the
subjects that are going to be taught), it will engage and excite them to learn since colors and
pictures play a big role in engaging students. Moreover, I chose different colors that represent
each subject such as: reading is red, Arabic is orange, and Maths is green etc. The reason behind
creating this schedule is because it will make it easier for the students to recognize the subjects
from their color, and at the same time it will benefit them by teaching them how to match words
together.
When the lesson runs smoothly without any errors in between and when the time is well
managed, such thing will positively affect the teacher by managing transitions in the classroom.
As I said above, one of the most important things that teachers should be aware of is transitions.
The schedule I that I have created will help the teacher manage transitions in many ways. Firstly,
this schedule will help the teacher to plan her lesson according to the subjects that are going to be
taught during the day. Such thing will prevent any unclear instructions or confusions during the
lesson because the teacher will be aware of what lesson should be taught and what tasks should
be given. Secondly, schedules will get the students prepared to move on to the next lesson or
activity. When its time to move on to the next activity or lesson, the teacher can announce this to
the students according to their schedule (what lesson do they have next) in order to hint in their
mind that they have limited time to complete their given tasks. Thirdly, students must have a
stable schedule in order for them to be introduced to the idea and the need for a specific plan to
follow in order for them to learn that there are rules that must be followed strictly to adapt to the
educational environment. Students through their whole educational life they will have a schedule
to follow thus this conducted schedule will help them to be introduced to the idea of having
schedule and a transitioning process.

Schedules must be placed visually in every classroom because that is the key for making
students organized, disciplined and well behaved. This schedule may prevent students from
misbehaving in many ways. Firstly, the pictures on the schedule represent each lesson. If an
individual is not following the schedule and wants to play during the lesson time, the teacher will
reinforce the positive behavior by making him/her look at the schedule and be aware of that they
have a lesson now and they will get to play but at a specific time. Secondly, the schedule that I
have created will keep the students stimulated and it will encourage them to learn. The schedule
has a variety of subjects as it has some breaks: this will prevent students from getting bored and
will maintain their positive behavior. Thirdly, the schedule allows the students to be placed in a
specific area such as class, playground. This will enable the teacher to know where are the
students at, exactly, which will allow her to monitor the students and prevent any misbehavior or
solve an occurring misbehavior before it gets bigger. In the picture above, I have added some
words, pictures, and colors in order to make the schedule creative and attractive. When students
get to see a creative and attractive schedule, it will engage them and allow them to explore new
things. The schedule that I have conducted will help the students in other areas related to
classroom management and learning in many ways. Firstly, students will learn new and different
colors as they will learn how to distinguish between each color and subject. When students learn
how to distinguish between each color and subject, it will encourage them to be confident
enough about knowing which color represents which subject. Secondly, students will learn new
vocabulary and will learn how to match letters together. When students visualize the schedule,
they will try to read the words and if they dont know how to read it, they will try to match letters
together in order to pronounce the word. Thirdly, pictures are placed in the schedule for a reason,
which is to support the special needs students who have difficulties reading or hearing, so this
schedule will support them and will encourage them to get involved in the classroom.
There are some disadvantages about this schedule and some challenges could occur while
using it. Firstly, the majority of the subjects in this schedule are all about learning and doing and
it has no creative, or fun subjects. Every child has his/her own talent for doing or creating things.
In my opinion, I think that students should get the opportunity to show and express their talents
in subjects that could give them a chance to show and bring out their talent and creativity such as
Art subject. Secondly, some students have difficulty visualizing and seeing things clearly from a

distance. In this schedule, the text size is small and unclear which can lead to many occurring
errors such as: confusion and unclear instructions. Thirdly, this schedule didnt mention the time
of each and every subject (when will the lesson start and end). Such thing can cause a lot of
problems such as, the teacher may face problems in dealing with transitions, planning,
organizing, and assessing students.
This schedule can be adapted and developed in many ways. Firstly, adding more fun
subjects to it, which will encourage students to learn more and enjoy going to
school/kindergarten because they will be aware that some fun and enjoyable subjects are going to
be held during the day. Secondly, making the text size bigger because, as I said above, there
could be students who are special needs and they have some difficulties in seeing things from far
distance. Thirdly, adding times to this schedule is going to benefit the teacher as well as the
students. The teacher will be more organized and will plan her lessons according to the time
duration of each lesson. Whereas, students will be confident and comfortable with what they are
learning because they wont rush into things since the teacher will give them a specific time in
order to complete their given tasks.

(This behavior chart was created by me)

I have created a classroom behavior chart so that students can be aware of how they
should behave and perform throughout the day. The schedule is for KG2 students. In the picture
above, there are 3 different hands and each one of them represents how the students are behaving
and performing inside the classroom. The first hand is a thumb up, which represents that an
individual is behaving well and doing a great job throughout the day. If an individual continues
performing and behaving well throughout the rest of the week, the teacher rewards him/her by
giving them presents and praises them by giving them a wink since they are behaving and
performing well. The second hand is a thumb in between, which means that an individual
misbehaved or has done a mistake. If an individual continues misbehaving, the teacher will warn
him/her by calling parents if the misbehavior occurred again. The third hand is a thumb down,
which represents that an individual has continued misbehaving and didnt obey or didnt follow
the classroom rules. If an individual continues on misbehaving and does not follow the expected
behavior, the teacher will call their parents and inform them about their childs performance in
the classroom. In addition, I have added some popped out eyes in the behavior chart that connote
that the teacher is keeping an eye on them.

The student behavior chart must be placed visually in every classroom because that is the
key for making students organized, well behaved, and aware of the classroom rules. This
behavior chart may prevent reoccurring misbehavior, and it can deal with students misbehavior
in many ways. Firstly, the teacher can teach students the classroom rules at the begging of the
year, in order for the students to be aware of how they should behave in the classroom. Teacher
will daily announce loudly the expected behavior from the students in the classroom by showing
them the behavior chart. In addition, the teacher will reinforce the positive behavior by telling
the students what she expects from them to behave well in order for them to get a present at the
end of the week. Such strategy will maintain the positivity in the classroom, and may prevent any
misbehavior. Secondly, when students look at the behavior chart, the popped out eyes will
remind them that the teacher is keeping an eye on them. Such thing will make the students
behave well because they will know that the teacher is monitoring them and they should behave
well in the classroom. Thirdly, if a student misbehaves during the lesson, the teacher will tell
him/her to have a look at the behavior chart and will warn him in order to make him be aware of
the consequences of misbehaving which is calling his/her parents. This will make the students
stop misbehaving because he/she will know that if they continued on misbehaving, the teacher
will call their parents. When the lesson runs smoothly without any errors in between and when
the time is well managed, this will positively affect the teacher to manage transitions. As I said
above, one of the most important things that teachers should be aware of is transitions. Here, the
behavior chart I that I have created will help the teacher to manage transitions in many ways.
Firstly, students will follow the instructions that are given by the teacher during transitions
because the behavior chart will engage and motivate them. When students are moving from one
class to another or from activity to another, they will obey and follow the teachers instructions
because, they will be aware of who behaves well, and following the instructions will get them a
present at the end of the week. Secondly, this behavior chart will prevent any distractions from
occurring during transitions because the students will be aware of the rules and if they didnt
behave well the teacher will call their parents. This will help the teacher during transitions
because the students will be frightened and scared if she calls their parents. Thirdly, this behavior
chart plays a big role in the classroom and it makes the teachers job easier during transitions.
The teacher will be able to control and lead the students without occurring any errors through

transitioning because students will be aware of how they should perform and behave through out
the day. From this behavior chart, children will learn a lot of things and will positively apply
them at school, home etc. Firstly, children will learn how to behave well, be disciplined, and
have a good personality and attitude towards their parents, teachers and people. Secondly,
children who have personal problems at their house may get negatively affected from their living
environment. This may cause the child to go through a hard and tough time, and he will not
listen, obey, follow whatever the teacher is asking for. This behavior management chart could
benefit the child because the child needs someone to encourage, support, motivate, reward, and
cheer him up in order to gain the positive behavior from him/her. And if the child behaves well,
the teacher will reward him/her by giving him/her presents which will encourage the students to
behave well all the time. Thirdly, when students follow this behavior chart, they will be aware of
how they should perform. If a child is not behaving well, the other students will encourage the
student who is misbehaving to behave well by making him/her follow and obey the rules that
will benefit him in his academic and personal life.
There are some disadvantages to this system and some challenges could occur while
using it. Firstly, when students perform and behave well throughout the day, they shouldnt
always receive a present. If the teacher continuously rewards the students by getting them
presents, they will only perform well in order to get a present instead of doing the right thing
which is behaving well. Instead, the teacher should use a variety of behavior strategies such as
praising and giving students stickers. Secondly, if a teacher notices that a student is continuously
misbehaving and distracts the classroom, the teacher will call his parents. Some parents may not
be free to pick up their phone due to personal reasons such as work, travelling etc. In addition,
when a teacher informs the parents about their childs progress, some dont correct their
childrens actions. Thirdly, this behavior chart could not benefit students who are special needs
because some of them dont have the ability to control their actions. Instead, the teacher can
research some techniques that suit their special needs.
This schedule can be adapted and developed in many ways. Firstly, it can be transformed
into a bigger chart that contains the same signs. However, instead of the teacher giving students a
present when doing something good, she allows the students to get up and put a sticker star on

the thumbs up figure in front of the whole class. This will help them to be more independent and
it will stimulate them to perform well. When a student misbehaves, instead of the teacher
warning them and call parents, she can make the student get up and put this name on the thumbs
down figure in front of the whole class which will reinforce their behavior into a positive one.
Secondly, the teacher may give an instant chance for the student to correct his/her misbehavior
and switch the thumbs down to a thumbs up. This allows the student to correct their behavior and
feel good and proud about it. Thirdly, instead of the teacher giving the students a thumbs up,
down, in between, the teacher allows the students to think together and decide whether a
particular student deserves thumbs up, down or in between according to hiss or her behavior.
This will allow students to think for themselves and feel that they are part of the class or the
decision making.
