ARD MEETING
1)

Who attended the ARD and what is each members purpose


at the ARD?

Principal acted as a facilitator to of the meeting. Started and Ended the meeting.
Introduced everyone at the start of the meeting. Diagnostician had her computer
and typed up any changes that may have been made. Made sure all decisions
where legal and in guidelines. General Education Teachers addressed concerns
both educational and socially. They brought classroom documentation to the
meeting. Students mother was there as a voice for the student. She also
addressed her concerns and opinions on IEP. Special education Teacher was
there to give understanding on the kind of resource the student will need. She
would make some suggestions that would need to change for this review.

Who appeared to be the ARD facilitator or coordinator?

The Principal appeared to facilitate this meeting. She would fill in any holes in
conversation and coordinated who should talk next and give their observations
when needed.

What was the purpose of the ARD? Review a Students


behavior plan. Adjust placement and accommodations.

The student was having issues in General Ed. Classes. Her previous plan needed
to be updated to fulfill her educational goals.

What kind of information (assessment, instructional,


behavioral, etc.) was shared by each committee member?

Mostly the teachers shared the most information. The General Education
Teachers brought some documentation of behavior in classroom settings. The
also brought copies of assignments and DRA scores at the BOY and MOY. The
Special Education Teacher brought up an Assessment that she refused to do.
Both teacher brought in documentation of instructional tools they used. The
Principal was natural in both the Students need and how it could affect her and
the other classmates. The mother stated some at home behavior.

Particularly, what appeared to be the general educator's


role and responsibility as a committee member?

The general educators role was to address any classroom issues that could be
hindering the educational need of the student. They would bring documentation

of classroom behaviors and assignments. They also needed to be aware of any


changes that were going to happen in their classroom.

How were educational goals and objectives determined?


How were accommodations and modifications determined?

All teachers stated their concerns. Since this was a review the diagnostician
stated what we have done and gave suggestion on what could be done next.
They all looked at the stresses of the student and what has been working versus
what hasn't. The mom agreed that all changes were needed to fit her child.

How did the committee arrive at decisions concerning the


student's least restrictive environment (LRE)?

The committee looked at where the student was striving educational and
socially. This easily let them know that at that point they are okay in general
education classes.

As a general educator, what would you need to do to


prepare to participate in an ARD meeting? What do you feel
is necessary for you to be the most effective ARD team
member possible?

As a general educator you need to have all your documentation and grades in
each meeting. This might include previous years or previous terms. Having the
students growth or decline might can give some insight on what can help them.
Also remember that this is for the student. Some parents may be upset but stay
calm and just show that you care very much for the student.
