IOC General Impressions from Dr.

Whitelaw:
As a class:

Travelling well against Criteria A

Felt by the examiners that you need to set up what the concerns to
be clearly in your introduction
Follow the line consistently all the way through to help you, make
sure you signpost much better during the commentary
At different moments during the IOC, link back to the concern that
you had identified in your introduction something that only 2
people did well
Hammer it home like the IBO Examiners are simpletons
The concern that you identify needs to be more than just 1-2
words long
Criterion B: traditionally been where it all comes unstuck, and still is:
A lack of confidence with identifying enough of literary techniques,
and identifying them both clearly and correctly
More meta-language, must be a) specific and b) supported with
where it is
Structure is the big picture: the only one you can highlight in your
intro
Focus needs to be sustained: one thing that was done really well
was why are you approaching it in a linear way? Progression etc.
add in your intro to justify your linear approach, making it more
coherent + convincing
