Critique on TED speech

In this paper, I am going to write critique report for TED speaker performance based on public
speaking guidelines that we were taught in the course.
The first thing I noticed in the video was that the speaker didnt introduced the subject matter
effectively as he give very little introduction to what he is going to talk about but yet seeing the
simplicity of the subject matter the audience didnt have difficulty in understanding the subject
of the speech. The first rule or guideline for a public speaking is the content of the subject matter
whether it is interesting to the audience, this speech I can say that the content was related to the
audience and they enjoyed his inventions. One of the effective methods to gain audience
attention is by showing a shocking statistics which he does by telling that Alzheimer is the
disease that has more number of death than cancer and others.
Considering the delivery methods of the speaker, the spoken language was very clear and
understandable, the speaker dressed formally and the most important part is that he kept his
audience interested by showing visual aids and some statistics about the disease he was talking
about. To keep the audience with him he also have shown a demo of his invention delivering
how it works which gave him round of applause from the audience.
One things that might have confused the audience was that the speaker put some pictures of his
family which was confusing as it wasnt clear to which one his father which his grandfather.
In general keeping in mind the rules and guidelines for public speaking, I will rate this speech
effective as it delivered and followed all the rules and guidelines.
