Reflection
This is the first lesson that I taught, it about community workers. The students are
familiar with workers, the students have a background and knowledge about some
names of workers but in the Arabic language. So during this lesson, I evaluate the
student's by gave them a spelling test in the end of the lesson to assess and monitor
their understanding during the classroom. This is a essential part related to teaching
competency reflection, that I assess the student's understanding the vocabulary.
Spelling test is one of formative assessment. "Assessment should reflect the concept
and skills, the teacher emphasized in class, along with the criteria the teacher provided
( ahead of time) for how she or he would judge students' performance"(Guskey,2003).
However, I used variety of activities and modelled when the students were very clear
of the tasks with good explanation. According to teaching competency planning for
learning, that differentiates activities across a range of abilities to help students reach
their potential. In this lesson, I had excellent to monitor and assess the student
learning. According to monitoring and assessment, I had a well-monitored group and
providing assistance. This lesson I linked to Professional development plan (PDP
goal). That I had a good managing activities that I used oral timers to manage the
time. All of these are a strengths point during the lesson. While the weakness point
are the group of the students was so big, so I have to make second materials. Also, I
have to consider partner work, so that the students have more practice.
