Essential Question: Is airsoft a dangerous activity?
Working Thesis: People should know about the dangers of airsoft but it is also a good thing.
Refined Thesis: Parents and younger people alike should know about the dangers of airsoft, but
they should also know that it is a fun activity that can bring people together and keep you active
and healthy.

There is a large part of todays population that truly enjoys playing airsoft, such as myself
and my family members. Unfortunately airsoft has been receiving a bad reputation from younger
children and desperate individuals attempting a robbery, using airsoft weapons in the incorrect
manner. The article titled Player: Regulate Airsoft Use states that professional airsoft players
are fed up with people in todays community not understanding how to properly handle an airsoft
weapon which can result in serious injury or even being gunned down by the police. Mike Smith,
a professional airsoft player, stated My concern is that there are too many people running
around with airsoft guns causing problems or getting shot by police. Something needs to be

done. This is a clear representation of how professional airsoft players feel about what is
happening in the community with airsoft weapons.

There have been many incidents involving misuse of an airsoft weapon, but the most
recent event that has happened is the unfortunate incident in which twelve year old boy, Tamir
Rice was gunned down by two Cleveland police officers. This event has also had the greatest
impact on the airsoft community. Most people believe the police officers are at fault for what
happened, but some of the blame should be put on Tamir Rice and his parents.
