Name of Student: Bedoor Abdulbaset Mohamed Ali
Alyas Al Shehhi(H00021298)

Course: BEd

Year: 5/2

Name of School: Mahra Bint Ahmed

Mentoring College Teacher: Mr. Mark Eckersley
Date and Time: Wednesday March 16th 9.45-10.30 am
Competency A Professionalism and Understanding:
Professional conduct was shown in planning the lesson well, starting the class on time and
through the organization shown. The lesson was planned for the skills and learning
capabilities of the students.
Category B Planning for Learning:
A good lesson plan was provided. A range of very interesting and creative activities were
planned for. The language foci planned for the class were appropriate. The students were
engaged well in the learning on this lesson centered on Then and Now (the Past and the
Present). A variety of activities were planned for and differentiation was evident in the
planning.

Category C Implementing and Managing Learning:

A few little problems with technology were evident at the beginning of class. You need
to check on the technology prior to the class. You eventually got the technology working.
The video used was of high interest and was very informative to the students. The
students then orally recalled the information from the video offered some answers to
questions. The language was scaffolded and some of the concepts were elicited from
students through oral answers. A range of students were invited to orally reflect their
knowledge and understanding.
Dart Game was used to reinforce the target language. Technology and an App was
used to choose the names of students for the activity. Some accommodation was made
for one of the special needs students through allowing her to use the I-Pad and the App.
The game had high interest even though the use of a gun or firing mechanism was a
worrying. The target language was consistently reinforced. The timing of the lesson could
have been a little better organized and managed. Try not to rush writing activities at the
end. You differentiated the writing worksheets. You have a lovely manner with students
and you patiently draw the answers out of students.

Category D Monitoring and Assessment of Learning:
Very interesting activities were used to review the concepts and unit of Then and Now.
Direct and indirect questioning techniques to monitor the student learning. You used
Questioning to elicit responses form the learners and you corrected the students and
allowed then to do some oral self-correction too. The writing activity at the end is very
good for assessment.

Category E Reflection:
Acknowledged that timing is still a problem. Also saw the differentiation as a great
teaching and learning tool.

Strengths of the Lesson:

The materials you prepared were excellent. The variety of activities done during the
lesson were very good. The way you orally reinforce the language with the students is
good.
Areas for Development:
The timing of lessons and activities is still something you need to work on.
Focus for next lesson:
You still need to work on the timing of your lessons. Also a range of methods need to be
used including writing as a way of assessing students. Spend more time on writing
activities.
