Salatul Jumuah

1. What is Salatul Jumuah?


Ans. The salat which is performed on Friday in place of Zuhr is called Jumuah. It is held
in the mosque and in Jamat.
2. How many rakaats are there in Jumuah Salat?
Ans. There are ten rakaats in Salaatul jumuah. Two rakaats fard , Four rakats sunnat
(Qablal jumuah) before fard and four rakaats sunnat(badal jumuah) after fard.
3. What are the rules of Salatul jumuah?
Ans The rules of Salatul jumuah are:
(a) Two azan. One is in the minaret and another inside the masjid after the imam sits in
mimbar .
(b) The Imam delivers Khutbah(speech) before fard of Jumuah and it is a wajib to
listen.
(c) During Khutba any activity of performing other salat is prohibited.
(d) Jumuah is not valid without Jamat.
(e) If a person failed to attend Jumuah, he will have to perform Zuhr.
4. What is the importance of Jumah salat?
Ans. The importance of salatul jumuah is immense. Muslims are a community and this is
a community prayer. Every week muslims od an area get the chance to get together. This
way they will get the chance to discuss and solve common problems and revive the
knowledge about Islam. This is like an Eid. More over this is Fard and if any one misses
it for no valid reason he will be a sinner. This proves the importance of salatul Jumuah.
