Human Trafficking Activism Plan
Human Trafficking is an important issue to be aware of, because its right behind
everybodys backyard. Its a nightmare happening all around us and there is not too much
happening to slow it down one of the worlds most shameful crimes. As big as the issue is, its
not illuminated as much. The problem is the media hasnt promoted investigation on trafficking
as much as they are suppose too. Women, men, and children from all corners of the world are
affected. Globally, one in five victims are children, while women make up two thirds of the
human trafficking victims (UNDOC). Europe is the mainstream and most lucrative place for
business, with criminal groups making about $3 Billion from it per year (UNDOC). Human
trafficking is being tackled through means through a variety of ways. There are hotlines for
victims to call or to report any suspicious activity. In October 2000, the U.S. Congress passed the
Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which includes the prevention of trafficking, the prosecution
of criminals and protection and assistance to victims of trafficking, both in the United States and
abroad (Innocents at Risk). There are organizations out there spreading the awareness of the
problem, mostly in areas where the media is weak. Other countries are still working on
implementing anti- trafficking legislation into their domestic laws.
Human Trafficking is surely a worldwide issue, and its a topic big enough to consider the
most extreme ways to stop it. One way I think we could stop it is by creating a police force unit
such as the DEA on the war with drugs, but this time its a unit that requires all its attention on
controlling and investigating human trafficking. These Special Forces would investigate shipping

ports, and not only ports but hotels too. Since 2007, 1,434 cases of human trafficking in hotels
and motels have been reported to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC)
and Polariss BeFree texting helpline (Polaris). One thing for sure it will require great financial
funding. So to execute the funding for the program I would prefer we stop the war on drugs and
start with the war on trafficking. This to me sounds like a good idea, because most of the money
from trafficking business are networked to organizational crimes such as terrorists or drug
cartels.
My plan would benefit a lot given the fact that criminal groups making about $3 billion
from trafficking per year. For sure trafficking makes it a considerable criminal funding network,
and with my plan we are killing two birds with one stone. It would be hard on the criminal
organizations to fund their most desirable financial source, and theyll end up not able to
function properly, for example drug trading would be harder without great financial to pay
shipping or any material they require. Considering ports are the best way to still traffic a human,
the special units would make them think twice about any corruption.
Putting special units out there or creating a whole department for human trafficking
shows we that we are recognizing human trafficking as a big problem as clearly portrayed by the
number of innocent human trafficking victims, 2.4 million (UNDOC). It will show we do care
and ashamed that innocent lives should are being thrown away to subdue to the wicked. This plan
should be implemented nationally and worldwide. Each nation works with the other to connect
investigation pieces and try to locate and hunt the criminal organizations that control these
human trafficking stunts.
