Over168millionchildrenworldwidearecurrentlylaboringforlittletonopayandin
dangerousconditions(Landen2).Childlaboriscommonlyduetofamilyimpoverishment.Some
familiescannotbesustainedonlyfromparentsbecausetheincomeisnotenoughinreturn,the
childrenaresenttoworkinharshconditionsforlittlepay.Whileschoolsarebreedingthenext
generationofastronauts,doctors,musicians,andmathematicians,35%ofall5to17yearolds
arerobbedofthisduetochildlabor(Landen2)."Aboutonethirdofchildrenofthedeveloping
worldarefailingtocompleteeven4yearsofeducation"duetoworkrequirements(Srivastava
2).Thesechildrenspendtimeandenergyworkingtoproduceasmallincomeratherthanstriving
fortheirdreams,asaconsequence,manyaremissingoutonachanceforabetterlife.Thislack
ofeducationbecauseoffinancialneediswhatstartsaviciouscycleofmistreatmentofchildren
andleadstorepetitivepoverty.
Justascommon,arethecasesinwhichthechildisnottryingtoprovideanincometo
supporttheirfamily,butisinsteadforcedintolaborwithoutpay.Onlyoneinfivechildlaborers
arepaidfortheirwork,theother80%areslavingawayatthecommandofauthority(UNNews
Center).

causeandplantedinurbanareasweareabletoreachanewaudiencefromauniqueangle.Our
hopeisthatourcustomerswillbeeducatedontheatrocitiesofchildlaborthroughpersonal
testimoniesandguiltfreeproductsandour(CapeTown)employeeswillfindvalueandsuccess
intheirnewjobs.Itisourfirmbeliefthatsafe,wellpaidemploymentisthechangethechild
laborindustryneedstoprovidehope.

Wevepreparedaplantohelpsupportthepresentlifeofthechildlaborsandpreventthe
futureofchildlaborpopulationfromincreasing.
Ourplanwouldbetoopenacoffeeshopthatstandsagainstchildlaborthroughitsproducts
andemployees.Thiscoffeeshop,entitledCoffeeCause,willhavetwolocations,oneinThe
UnitedStates(Nashville,Tennessee),andtheotherinAfrica(CapeTown,SouthAfrica).The
Americanlocationwouldserveasawayofspreadingawarenessandfundsforchildlabor
globallyandmorespecifically,inAfrica.Over28%ofAfricanchildrenareinvolvedinchild
laborhavingalocationinaslightlyurbancityinAfricawouldprovidewhattheNashville
locationlacked,adirectconnectiontotheissuethroughtheemployees(InternationalLabor
Organization2).TheCapeTownlocationwouldemploytheolderchildrenwhowereonce
involvedinchildlabor.WorkingforCoffeeCauseCapeTownwouldofferthesekidsawellpaid
jobinasafeenvironmentandwouldhelpbreakthechainofchildlaborandpoverty.Thecoffee,
produce,milketc.atbothlocationswouldbe100%childlaborfreeandallproceedswouldgoto
fundingchildren,families,andorganizationsthatarehelpingtostopchildlabor.

TheNationalChildLaborCommitteeandGlobalMarchAgainstChildLaborarenonprofit
organizationswithagoalofspreadingawarenessandraisingmoney.Thoughtheseorganizations
arebothcrucialandeffectivehowever,thereisnotanonprofitorganizationinexistencethat
directlyemploysvictimsandusesantichildlaborproductsinamodernsettinglikeours.Inorder
forthesecoffeeshopstobeasuccess,theyneedtobehighlydesirable:agoodlocation,trendy
atmosphere,andhighqualityproductsarecrucialtobringinginahighincomeandincreasing
popularity.
