1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality) Fantasies- relaxed atmosphere, people will be calm coming in. Realities- smell is bad, the
sadness is awful, and horror stories.

2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?
(educational level and requirements) must have a bachelors degree. You need on hand experience.

3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.
(day-to-day activities) 8-10 cases a day, depends on homicide, or natural death. Investigators are constantly
around, must document all items the victim is wearing and do autopsy.

4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?
(job security) Very secure, the manager of the managers. Will always have a need for someone in my field.

5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?
(salary) typically 55,000- 75,000 depending on degree.

6. What potential for growth is there in your field?


(growth potential)
Once you get your doctorate, you usually cant go farther than that.

7. Do you wish you would have picked a different career now that you have been in this field for awhile?
No, because my job is close to home and has good pay, flexible hours and easy work.

8. What advice do you have for someone wanting to pursue the same career that you have?
Prepared for long hours and depression, be okay with death, and have sympathy for people.

9. Do you plan to do anything different career wise after you retire?


No.

10. Do you believe that the public is well informed of the duties you perform day to day?

No, people have no idea of the things that I do to help others and of the demanding work that comes
everyday.
