Curricular Connections:
Reading, Math, Language, Writing, Music
Procedure:
1. Show students a table of 3s and 4s (math)
2. Show the students the lyrics of the songs that will go along with
these facts (reading)
3. Sing Twinkle Twinkle as a class (language) (music)
4. Teach the students the new lyrics that have the words replaced
with numbers
5. Show the students that only a portion of Twinkle Twinkle will
be used
6. Have students write down the lyrics to keep with themselves
(writing)
7. Sing Row Row Row Your Boat as a class (language) (music)
8. Teach the students the new lyrics that have the words replaced
with numbers
9. Have students write down the lyrics to keep with themselves
(writing)
10.
Students will be given a worksheet quizzing them on
factors of 3 and 4 to prepare for a quiz later on (math)
11.
Once these songs are memorized, there are also songs
for factors of 6, 7, 8, and 9 to follow up (music) (math)

these songs

Common Core State Standards: CCSS

Math
1. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.A.4
Determine the unknown whole number in a multiplication or
division equation relating three whole numbers. For example,
determine the unknown number that makes the equation true in
each of the equations 8 ? = 48, 5 = _ 3, 6 6 = ?
2. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.C.7
Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as
the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g.,
knowing that 8 5 = 40, one knows 40 5 = 8) or properties of
operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all
products of two one-digit numbers.
3. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.D.9
Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition
table or multiplication table), and explain them using properties
of operations. For example, observe that 4 times a number is
always even, and explain why 4 times a number can be
decomposed into two equal addends.

Music
1. 1.3 Identify melody, rhythm, harmony, and timbre in selected
pieces of music when presented aurally.
2. 2.1 Sing with accuracy in a developmentally appropriate range.
