technology. It will further assist you to select the correct technology when
planning a lesson.
http://wiki.ubc.ca/images/1/19/SECTIONS_Framework.pdf

The intent of this framework is to provide instructors and others who are
integrating technology into their learning projects, with a framework for
planning that will allow you to assess the fit between:

technology selected
your goals and
support requirements.

There are 4 parts:

1.
2.
3.
4.

Define
Assess
Implement

technology

3. The learning activity(s) that I have chosen to address this objective(s)

is(are):
Power point illustrating the execution and coaching points of the
skill
Webpage with further information about the skill
Podcast about the skill
4. The technology that I am thinking of supporting this learning is:
Creating a webpage(weebly.com) where students can have access
to perform an online quiz and or watch videos or have online
discussions

Part 2: ASSESS (8)

Instructions: Read through the response key on page 3 of the
website. Complete the following for each tool separately.
The tool I am assessing is an interactive power point.

Part 3: Implement (6)

Implementing a new approach or technology for the first time is an
experiment. Engage your students in helping you to assess it. Gathering
some impressions during implementation will help you to make decisions
about whether the experiment is worth continuing and what additional
considerations you may need to make in order to improve the learning
experience.
Based on your lesson delivery last week or the week before, answer the
following questions. You may use your classmates to assist you in answering
these as they were your students:

1. In observing the students engaging with this activity I

2. The technology I have chosen is enabling the learning because it is

student centered and has things to attract each student. It also caters
for each students learning style.

13

Educational Technology
Sections Framework Worksheet

3. The technology I have chosen is a barrier to learning because it may

sometimes limit students learning and thinking level because this
information is presented at hand. This is so because quick response is
at their finger tip.
4. Feedback from students about this technology is that in some sense
they enjoy the creativity of the technology been utilized but they
wanted more pictures and less words. They complained that they had
to do somewhat too much reading to grasp the content but overall it
was good.

Part 4: Refine
Refining your approach requires some reflection on the activity. Create a plan
to make any changes or refinements. Reflect on the following and use the
information you gathered from your own and students feedback during
implementation.
Based on your lesson delivery last week or the week before, answer the
following questions.
1. What worked?
What worked was that the power point had them engaged which made
the class student centered because if not most, all the class was
interested and engaged in the class activity.

2. What didnt work and why?

What did not work so well was the podcast because it was a bit fuzzy
which made the students found difficulties in listening keenly to what
was been presented. In some essence, the webpage was not 100%
interactive because it was more of words that pictures and videos.
3. I need to change the style or format of the webpage and make it more
of pictures and videos.

14

Educational Technology
Sections Framework Worksheet

4. My plan to make this change is created digital stories which will have

all types of learning styles (audio, visual and kinesthetic) engaged

because they can listen, watch and read.
