Modern hydroelectric plants and how they use a rivers slope

Various modern businesses and industries need a constant source of energy to run their operations
efficiently. However, the traditional sources of energy are already dwindling. That is why the need
for and awareness about renewable energy has shot up in recent times. In this context, the use of
hydroelectric plants has also seen a rise in recent times as they generate power from water. This is
probably one of the most non-pollutant ways of generating energy today.
In earlier times hydroelectric plants used to cause significant damage to the surrounding
environments, often resulting in massive deforestation and significant loss in flora and fauna.
Modern hydroelectric power plants, however, have evolved to address these serious issues. So
instead of blocking the rivers natural flow, many of the modern hydroelectric plants focus on using
the flow of the river on its run. Using the force in the rivers current that is generated when the river
reaches a slope a typical run-of-the-river hydroelectric plant is capable of generating significant
amount of power. This, in turn, causes minimal damage to the surroundings and instead paves the
way for a type of developments that is sustainable over a long period of time.
Harvesting the power of the river in the eastern Himalayan state of Sikkim
In the eastern Himalayan regions of Chuzachen, Bhasmey, and Sada Mangder in East and West
Sikkim, Gati Infra has so far created three eco-friendly hydroelectric plants on the run of the river.
The company further creates initiatives around its hydroelectric plants that are geared towards the
betterment of life in this beautiful Himalayan state. The company puts significant focus on
developing the standard of life for the local mountain people. Moving beyond just creating a
hydroelectric plant, Gati Infra has thus got involved in various social welfare projects including in
areas like education, healthcare, and food security among others. The company works actively
towards these ends to create a better life for the inhabitants in the area.
Other sources of renewable energy
Besides hydroelectric plants, Gati has plans to create other sources for the generation of renewable
energy. One the future plans include creating a solar energy facility in the state.
Conclusion
While we are on the front of renewable energy, it must be mentioned that, besides, Gati Infra has
also ventured into the future by tapping into the immense potentials that are available in renewable
and green energy sectors including solar energy units.
