Family/Relationships
Family is not a chosen aspect. We dont choose with whom we want to be related
to. Its just a natural aspect of life that kind of chooses for you. The ancestors and traits
that come along with, are what shape up the choice life does for a person. People live and
adapt to what was given to them. If scientifically speaking, genetics also play a huge role
to the family choice of a person. The genes of the parents then create the next generation,
which precedes the familys creation. Its not a choice as to where a person falls into when
it comes to being a part of a family; the person is born into a family without a preference.
Now, it is possible to shape family and change its identity and what defines it. For
example like the families in the book The Giver by Lois Lowry, families are set
up rather than it being a natural ancestry form.
This article is about the perception of what family is and the
definition of what family is now. It speaks about how many unmarried
people are having kids. As well as in the LGBTQ community, and single
mothers are raising kids. Also it mentions how different races are
marrying

and

having

children,

which

can

affect

the

familys

culture/traditions or the family in general. This article asked students

De Leon 2
to define what family meant to them and about a good amount
refereed a family as a huge support.
