On this week, I could enter classes for teaching and learning only twice. This is because my school was conducting an event which was cross-country. A rehearsal for the event took 2 days in order for the children to get used with the ways of the cross country. The rehearsal dragged time until it clashes with the English lesson. Thus, the lesson was postponed. Other than that, I conducted a preliminary survey for my action research. During my English lesson, I provided the pupils with a worksheet about vocabulary. I wanted to test the pupils vocabulary based on the Year 2 syllabus. The test was guided as the answers were provided. Furthermore, the pupils just need to match the picture with the words. There was no sentence structure in the worksheet as the pupils are low proficiency. During teaching and learning process in the classroom, I find out the pupils were really guided. When I was teaching reading and asked the pupils to speak independently, all pupils cannot produce any words. But, when I asked the pupils to rearrange words into sentences, the pupils can read well. Besides, they learn the sentence structure and could speak independently after being drilled repeatedly. In term of discipline, I cannot control the class sometimes. My approach did not suit the pupils as there are 3 problematic pupils. Those pupils are always being mentioned by teachers for me to alert during the lesson. I cannot be too friendly as the pupils will get naughty. But, if I am too serious I could not enjoy teaching the pupils. I am improving myself to be a better teacher tomorrow than today. In a nutshell, classroom management is very crucial and need to be controlled well. The lesson should be focus on activities such as games to arouse the pupils interest. I am trying to create a game in every lesson. While playing, the pupils could gather knowledge without they know that they have learn something.
