Essential Question: How are mammograms helpful when detecting breast cancer early?
Working Thesis: Mammograms can help detect breast cancer at an early stage, reduce the
chances of the cancer spreading, and let women know how severe the breast cancer is.

up the idea that taking action earlier is the best way to prevent breast cancer from spreading or
getting worse. It emphasizes mammograms are especially important because in most cases this
form of cancer cannot be detected in other ways. This article also explains the different types of
breast cancer and how each one affects women. It gives information about how the cancer forms
and spreads if not dealt with early on in its developing stages. This article will help to support
and stress how mammograms can help detect breast cancer at an early stage.

stresses that getting mammograms is always the best way to avoid later suffering and serious
consequences. It suggests that the lack of awareness and support to have annual mammograms
and check-ups are the root causes to the severity of the cancer in so many women. The article
briefly discusses how breast cancer is a curable disease provided that it is detected and treated
early. Without the early detection women are more valuable to the cancer and have a higher
chance of the cancer spreading thus becoming worse. Another main topic discussed is the
importance of age and when women should start getting mammograms. This article is relevant to
the research because it supports my position that mammograms can reduce the chances of breast
cancer spreading.
