principles of design.
1.3 Research and analyze the work of an artist and write about the artist's distinctive style and its
contribution to the meaning of the work.

cultural influence are reflected in selected works of art.

Grade level: 11-12
Supplies and resources:
oil paint
paintbrushes
canvas
paint palette
paint thinner and linseed oil
image of your artists painting
each student must have a different painting that they choose to recreate
must have a 1-2 page paper about their artist, the painting, and why they chose the
painting they did
must participate in the class critique on the day it is due
the painting has to be a minimum of 11x14 in.
painting must have linear perspective
Extensions:
more advanced students can choose to stretch their own canvas as opposed to buying a
pre made one
more advanced students can make their painting be bigger than the size requirement
students can choose to make more than one painting by the same artist
