Lesson Models LBS 400

1. What two lesson models did you research online?
-The two lesson models that I searched where Cooperative learning and Inquiry based
instruction.
2. What are the main steps involved in each model?
- The main steps involved in cooperative learning include having students work together
to achieve a common goal. In cooperative learning, students with different strengths and
abilities are placed in groups where they are expected to work with each other. Every
group member learns something new and every group member contributes something to
the group. In inquiry based instruction, the main steps involved include teachers asking
probing questions. As teacher as questions, it encourages students to think and make
connections to other situations. In inquiry based instruction, students engage in active
problem solving and are guided towards critical thinking and analysis. The inquiry based
approach is mostly used in math and science in elementary school, as these subjects
require more analysis and can be understood in more than one way.
3. List at least two websites that you found most helpful.
https://www.teachervision.com/cooperative-learning/teaching-methods/48448.html
https://wvde.state.wv.us/teach21/Inquiry-BasedLessonPlans.html
4. Which of the two models do you plan on using when you teach in your field work
classroom? Why did you select this model?
- I plan on using more cooperative learning because this method promotes self discovery.
As students work with one another they are able to see what are their interests and likes.

Moreover, students improve their oral communication skills, their social skills, as well as
their critical thinking skills- all areas that require a strong foundation in order to move on
to other grades.
