Pilates Final Project

I feel the warm-up is the most important part of a proper and useful
workout. It sets the foundation and mood for the rest of the workout.
Therefore, I put a lot of emphasis in the exercises at the start of my workout. I
start with simple stretches that allow some basic movement combined with
breath to focus and center the body. Also, this allows some time to see what
in my body needs special attention. Following the stretches is some focused
breathing in order to ensure my breath will be established throughout the rest
of the workout. I finish my workout with some foam roller supine exercises
because I like the extra support the roller provides.
My mat workout includes a mixture of beginning and intermediate
exercises from throughout the semester. The core of my workout follows the
structure of the basic mat workout with some variation and intermediate
exercises added here and there. Core exercises such as hundred and scissors
are at the beginning and middle to ensure a strong and active core
throughout. leg focused exercises are put early on because I have tight
hamstrings and it bands that need some focus work to ensure I can make it
through the rest of the workout. I alternate between Supine and sitting
positions to ensure by back gets support when needed and doesn't get tired
or stiff.
Cool down involves some of the same breathing exercises from the
beginning of the workout. I use these to allow for recentering of the body and
to give me time to evaluate what the workout has done to it. I have laid out a

basic foam roller massage that can be changed to focus on any area of the
body that feels tight or stressed after the workout. This summer I intend to do
and improve this workout weekly, my goals are to improve technique and
smoothness of the exercises. I plan to use the workout to increase strength,
balance, and flexibility that6 I can apply to my dancing, acting, and everyday
life.
