Unit 311 Criteria 2.2
Miss Bowater

Strengths
You have created a major modal chord progression. Your piece sounds musically
engaging and has the potential to be harmonically coherent however you cannot
be graded as you do not have an extended chord in your piece which is in the
criteria.

Improvements
You need to add 1 extended chord (7th does not class as an extended
chord it needs to be a 9th, 11th or 13th.
Look at where/how you have written some of your chords. They jump
around quite a lot and show no coherency which affects how the piece
sounds musically. You need to think about where each chord is moving to
and coming from and does it make harmonic sense.
Check the following bars for a few minor mistakes.
Bar 9 You have an E in the bass and a B minor chord playing did you mean to
do this?
Bar 12 You have a G in the bass and a D Major chord playing did you mean to
do this?
Bar 15 Roman numeral is wrong
Bar 16 You have finished on chord IV which is your original tonic chord (G
Major). This is not the best way to end your chord progression as it no longer
sounds like it is in the mixolydian mode. You need to emphasise that the D Major
chord is the tonic.
