Dear Mr Khan
I write to offer my congratulations on your election as Mayor of London. It was a hard
fought campaign, but you have emerged with a clear mandate for London which is a
great achievement.
You may remember that together with stakeholders from our Greener City Action
Plan, I wrote to you before the election asking you to consider an earlier introduction
of the Ultra Low Emission Zone with more stringent requirements for diesel engines.
I understand that you may be considering some steps in an effort to improve air
quality and would be very interested in seeing how we can work together.
Westminster City Council has submitted a bid to the GLA for funding for a Low
Emission Neighbourhood in Marylebone which we are very excited about. I would be
very happy to discuss this further with you.
I know that you are hoping to meet our Leader in the future and she is very keen to
do so. I shall ensure that Philippa has the latest updates on my portfolio before the
meeting, but in the meantime do not hesitate to get in touch with either of us, should
you need any information on Westminsters plan for the Greener City Action Plan,
Walking or Cycling Strategies, Air Quality Management Plan and the forth coming
Open Space and Biodiversity Strategy.
