Topic:Children Safety and Rape prevention
China acknowledges the importance of helping the vulnerable refugee children, and notes that the
existing issues surrounding it must be addressed. In addition to the increase of refugees, its has been
known that over 30 million refugees are under the age of 18. Most of these children have encountered
disasters and war, are going through psychological trauma, are getting abused or raped but worst of all
theyve experienced fear. Approximately 30% of juveniles have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD)
most of these experience comes from the wars that have driven them away. Another big cause for PTSD is
rape, roughly about 10,000 children have gone missing or have been raped.
For a while we have allowed Kachin to live in our nation for a long time. Due to the war between
the Burmese government and the Kachin Independence Army, many people left towards China in which
we sadly cannot take them in do to our already overpopulated nation. We can not support them and have
to send them back to Myanmar. In order to prevent any Kachin from being injured we send them back to
one out of the 85 Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) controlled territories in which they are treated
with care.
The United Nation has been giving supplies such as water, tents and medicines to the children and
families fleeing from their country. The United Nations involvement has consisted of trying to reunite the
children with their family if possible but if the family cannot be found is found they will be sent to foster
homes. China has donated 14 million to humanitarian aid ever since the beginning of the Syrian crisis
which started in 2011.
China acknowledges the importance of doing something for the refugee children in need and will
donate more money to help upgrade camps and give the young ones the care they need.
