Course Description: This course is a four-week, primarily asynchronous,

online experience offered within Blackboard. Faculty in this course will


experience what it is like to be an online student while completing
readings, participating in online discussions and submitting
assignments related to the design and delivery of online courses. Each
member will invest approximately 5-7 hours per week on course
activities, include specific tasks to be completed each week, as well as
communication with the other members of the class. Time spent by
each individual will be whenever is most convenient for them, with the
exception of one synchronous session during the third week of the
class where the group will meet online at the same time.

Identify the strengths and weakness of the online environment from a


student's perspective, based on your own experiences as an online
student in this course.

Describe specific time management strategies that should be


considered in the delivery of online courses for both faculty and
students.

Identify acts of social, cognitive and teaching presence in examples


provided and incorporate similar strategies into your own courses.

Evaluate and provide recommendations based on case study


example of instructors interactions with students in an online
course.
