18 FIELD COMPANY EXERCISE GREEN BULL (CT 1) 23 26 MAY 16 - ADMIN


INSTRUCTION
CHURCHILL REFERENCE: 32LN86
Introduction
1.
18 Field Company will conduct a CT1 Exercise during the period 23-26 May 16. This Ex will
provide the opportunity for those deploying on exercises in BATUS during 2016 and moving to
High Readiness (HR) in 2017 to be familiar with kit and equipment they may be required to use in a
tactical environment.
Aim
2. The aim of the exercise is to train individuals of 18 Field Company to Collective Training Level
1 in order for them to be prepared for upcoming deployments.
Execution
3.

General Outline. The exercise will be conducted in 6 phases as outlined below:


a.
Phase 1 Planning and Recce. Veh Pl Comd supported by E&G Pl Comd will lead
the planning and deployment of the Coy Gp assisted by instructors and Bn Training Wing
personnel.
b.
Phase 2 In Camp Training. CT1 training will take place on 23 May 16 in Barker
Barracks, Paderborn as outlined in Annex A.
c.
Phase 3 Deployment. Deploying personnel are to muster outside 18 Field Company
HQ, at 0745 on 24 Apr 16 for an exercise brief before full exercise deployment orders being
delivered. Further details can be found in Annex A. Exercising personnel will conduct a
series of training packages over the period 24 25 May 16 on Goldgrung Training Area.
These training packages will focus on Collective Training Objectives to level 1 (CT1).
d.
Phase 4 Recovery. Deploying personnel will recover to Barker Barracks 25 May 16,
on which a full exercise close down and vehicle handover procedure will be conducted.
e.
Phase 5 Navex. All deploying personnel will conduct a navigation exercise on
Goldgrung Training Area on 26 May 16.

Phase 6 Debrief and Dispersal. On completion of the exercise, there will be an
after action review of the training conducted at which selected personnel of the Company will
be required to give a back brief on a lesson they received.
CO-ORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS
4.

CHURCHILL. The CHURCHILL code for Ex GREEN BULL is 32LN86.

5. Main Event List. A main event list is at Annex A, detailing timings and locations for all
lessons and phases of the exercise.
6.

Personal Documentation. All deploying personnel are to be in procession of:


a.
MoD 90 ID Card. In date and undamaged. Personnel without an in date or
undamaged MoD 90 ID Card are to request a replacement or a F Ident 693 Temporary
Certificate of Service Identity from the admin office.
b.

Passport. Valid passport with an expiry date after 16 Oct 16.

c.
Driving Licence. In date Photocard driving licence and DVLA printout showing
vehicles you can drive and any penalties.
d.
FMT600. In date and annotated with the vehicles you can drive and an in date
Germany Matrix test.
SERVICE SUPPORT
7.

Kit List. A full kit list for Ex GREEN BULL can be found at Annex B to this Instruction.

Dress
8.
All deploying personnel will adhere to local standing order regarding dress, specifically when
outside. This includes the requirement for personnel to wear appropriate clothing to protect them
from the local climate.
9.
Medical. Owing to the factors such as climate and terrain, all personnel deploying on
exercise should be assessed as physically and medically fit prior to deployment.
a.
Individuals that are not MFD may be permitted to deploy subject to a Risk
Assessment, with medical, ROHT or chain of command input as indicated by the soldiers
Appendix 9. Personnel graded MND or P4 MLD are not to deploy.
(1) Personnel Graded P3 MLD. An Officer in the individuals CofC familiar with the
individuals limitations, role and proposed employment should undertake a documented
Risk Assessment, only involving the Medical Officer (MO) and Regional Occupational
Health Team (ROHT) as indicated by the Appendix 9 or if there is insufficient
information in the soldiers Appendix 9 to make a defensible decision. MOs are strongly
advised to resist any requests to upgrade personnel inappropriately for the purposes of
deployment.
(2) Personnel Graded P7 MLD. Personnel graded P7 MLD may only deploy in
exceptional circumstances and with the authorisation of a Military Consultant in
Occupational Medicine. There is to be evidence of a MRA, which must have been
discussed with SMO BFC.
Individuals who are not MFD are to, through their CoC, notify the Ex planning team at

the earliest opportunity.


RISK ASSESMENTS
10. Lt Shelmerdine-Hare is to manage and collate all risks assessments for Ex GREEN BULL in
accordance with the Duty Holder Framework. These are be completed and reviewed NLT 20 May
16 and will be reviewed and updated throughout the Ex.
Motor Transport
11. 3 Bn REME MTWO is requested to coordinate all tpt requests involving 18 Fd personnel and
vehicles. He is to conduct and implement planning for the following movements:
a.
The movement of the main body onto Goldgrung Training Area on 24 May 16 and
recovery to Barker Barracks on 25 May 16.
(1) 2 x 9 seater minibuses
(2) 8 x SV
(3) 2 x LR TUM
b.

2 x 9 seater minibuses for 26 May 16 in support of navex on Goldgrung Training Area.

12. CSM Bysh is to ensure that individuals required to drive are within JSP 800 Vol 5 Part 3,
Scheme B criteria. All drivers are to complete an F/MT 109 prior to commencing driving tasks. All
drivers are to record their driving hours on a FMT 105 (Drivers Record Sheet).

Notes:
- Section Commanders and 2ICs must ensure that they carry a TAM or orders book, a
waterproof map case, map marking kit, a patrol report writing kit (patrol report and coloured
pencils) and a silva compass each (essential see trg wing to sign for one).
- Each section will require enough issue green string to place out comms cord around their
section of the harbour area track plan and to their day and night sentry positions
- Each section is to ensure that they nominate 1 soldier per fire team to carry a stretcher in
their daysack. This is to be marked with white mine tape.
- FIGHT LIGHT! There is no need to be carrying extra food, iPods/iPads, hammocks, camp cots
etc in your bergan. Remember that your webbing is for fighting in - keep it light, do not pack
unnecessary kit into it!
